Summary
Kara is at the end of her nursing shift when a violent man is brought in with an arrow wound. When he spits blood on her, Kara is transported elsewhere. Soon she's doing emergency wound care on book characters and trying not to lose it. She can't watch people suffer even if it isn't real, but Aragorn is very suspicious of a woman who tells no clear story and smells like an orc.
“Stranger things have happened than you or I have years to tell of it," Gandalf said. "Why does she unsettle you? Surely you do not feel threatened. I am tolerably certain you could defeat her if it came to violence.”
Aragorn scoffed at his gentle humor. “I’m glad to amuse you. There are more dangers than warriors and swords. Need I tell a wizard that?"
“I can assure you she is not evil and has not a whisper of magic.”
“Yet a beautiful woman appears directly in our path, leagues from civilization, and immediately gains the hobbits’ trust. No wizardry, you say?”
Kara was not *unhappy* at being called a beautiful woman (although his standards for human women, as opposed to elves, were probably low), but she was unhappy to be stuck eavesdropping. She’d seen this scene too many times in movies. They would definitely see her.- Language:

“Fred,” I hear one say to the other. "She needs help. Go get someone. Anyone.”
I hear punches from the floor scuffle. George puts a hand to the side of my face and looks at me with worried eyes. I start to shiver, and my breathing is uneven. He looks scared. He turns round and sends a stunning spell at him on the floor. He stills. “Fred - stop. He’s not going anywhere. But she needs help. Go. Get someone, anyone. I’ll stay with her.”
Fred takes one look at me and immediately jumps into action. He sends one last kick to the shins of the immobile boy on the floor. “Go”, George urges. Fred rushes over and out of the common room door.

For the second time that day I start to panic. My heart beats fast and I can't breathe. Am I a ghost? Stupid question. Of course, I am. I died. And it seems that being transported to a different world didn’t make me alive in it. I know this now, but still I try to talk, to touch, to be seen. Nothing I do works. So I run through Hobbiton and scream as loud as I can. I hope someone tells me to shut up, to get the hell out of here, but it isn't happening. No one notices my presence.
Finally I stop and fall to my knees. I don't know when my screams turned to sobs. Tears blur my vision. No one sees me. No one hears me. No one can touch me. Of all fictional worlds, I end up in the one I love the most, with knowledge that could save thousands of lives, but I have no way to change anything. I can only watch.
This must be hell then.
