Summary
Every person has the first words their soulmate will say to them on their body somewhere in a light copy of their soulmate's handwriting. When their soulmate says the words to them for the first time the mark turns black in confirmation. Alec is a student in his final semester looking to fulfill the remaining required classes to graduate. What happens when he hears his words come out of his professor's mouth?
Chapter 1 follows Alec as he debates how to approach the sticky situation with his college professor. Chapter 2 fills in a few small gaps from Magnus' point of view.
Not rated for language as I'm not 100% sure where that fits so I want to play it safe but there's no mature content.

Summary
The Clave is more harsh than it is lenient. After all, 'the law is hard but it's the law' as Alec Lightwood well knows.
So when the fact that he has found the Cup but not reported it leaks to the Clave, they're displeased. Their ire only grows when officials arrive to find that the Cup is also missing, with Alec's own stele having been used to steal it.
With his sister, parabatai and Valentine's daughter all missing, there is no one to have Alec's back when the Clave take their pound of flesh, and destroy Alec's purpose in life in the process.

Magnus has slept with his fair share of enemies. Has killed and had others try to kill him during romance and sex alike and Alexander is hardly as bad as any of that.
He is a nephilim, but why shouldn’t Magnus gain something from this war. If the Council of Elders dislikes the lover Magnus is going to take for himself, then they can fight without his power.
Magnus will take those who follow him and his nephilim and keep them safe somewhere else.

Summary
At the end of the very first Council meeting, Alec hadn't expected to walk away with the offer for two different dates from two different men. But he finds himself surprisingly eager to cash in on both. For the first time in his life, he doesn't have to worry about what people are going to think, what the Clave might say, or what anyone else might be. He's out and, maybe not vocally proud the way that others are, but not ashamed. If he wants to go out and enjoy himself, there's no reason that he shouldn't.
That doesn't mean he's not nervous, though.

Summary
Alec had always thought he’d known fear.
Not just as a concept, but a living, breathing thing that existed inside him almost constantly. Those around him had taught him fear as a child. They’d told him of the demons that lurked in the dark, ready to take out anyone and everyone dear to him, and he’d been taught to work past that fear so he could do what needed to be done. They’d taught him to acknowledge it, embrace it, and move beyond it, until Alec did it instinctively, until that fear became almost nothing. A small thing barely even acknowledged.
Alec had thought he’d known what fear was. That he’d felt, breathed, tasted it, a memory that would always remain burned into him in those deep, dark places where he hid all his hurt.
He was wrong.
Every time he thought he’d been truly afraid, life seemed to find a way to rise up and prove to him just how wrong he was. How much more fear there was for him to feel.
It’d been Alec’s almost constant companion this past week. Ever since the evening where he’d gotten a phone call from Catarina, and she’d said those words to him, the words that had changed everything: “Magnus is missing.”
