Now that the world was made, shaped, and refined into something solid and beautiful upon which the tallest of trees grew and the mountains loomed majestic over the valleys, cliffs, and waterfalls below—all things which he had helped cut and carve with his own hands—there was no more need for those hands to help shape the world, and so he had traded the valleys, the mountains, the cliffs, and the hills for a smaller workspace known as a forge, where he worked with metal, ore, and stone. It was a big change for Mairon—to have been granted such grandness, and then reduced to a workshop smith.
Inside, he had long been bitter for it. Overlooked. Brought down low.
It had been the start, the very beginnings, of a thirst in him.

Curufin's dearest wish is to follow in his father's footsteps and create great things just like him. However... things happen. And in contrast to the brilliance of his father's Silmarils, the works of the younger Curufinwë seem destined to fall into obscurity.
Join Curufin and his son Celebrimbor as they make their way across the pages of their history, with all its toil, anguish, violence, treachery, and great love despite everything.
Very closely based on the published Silmarillion (I even include character dialogue from the book, when it exists). This is essentially my interpretation of what happened to Curufin and Celebrimbor 'between the lines' of the story. And the main theme is their 'works', or the things they make.

The air was suddenly thick with the scent of metal, of oil, and of blood. As the days grew darker these things were not necessarily uncommon- rare was the patrol that returned without a single injury, when they ventured beyond the tree line of the Golden Wood. But- that was the point. They were in the Golden Wood, on the outskirts of the capital no less, in the very cradle of Lady Galadriel’s power. What fell horror could possibly reach them here?
In one sudden, blood-soaked second they traded rising temperatures, price-gouging supermarkets and a mattress in the back of the van for endless forest, wheeling stars and the whispered promise of a world where trying to be good might actually get you somewhere.
This would have been a no-brainer, if there wasn't a six-year-old child to consider.
