Ilya was crouched down on his kitchen floor. A blacked out night from three weeks ago he barely remembered fragments of - because there was no way the fragments had actually happened - came back like note pages dropped in a pond. Soggy and illegible.
How the fuck could he have done this!?
Booze and liquor and neon lights in loud rooms flickered through his mind.
Ilya pushed his thumb into the hollow of his eye socket, wading through the half cropped memories.His shaky hands went into his hair pulling until he felt the sting and he screwed his eyes shut. Not wanting cab rides or red lipstick to enter his mind. The stains he’d convinced himself must have gotten there when the lady in the glittery dress had leaned across the bar to whisper something in his ear over the music, because there was no way he’d allowed any other situation for it to get there.
How could he have done that!? How could he have broken Shane’s trust like this?
He was a worthless piece of shit.
______Inspired by a movie I recently watched that I felt treated a plot line absolutely horribly, and I needed a different response to something like this being disclosed.

"Beats me. Yesterday they fought about the colour of onesies. Jackie, last night I had to listen to Ilya for 45 minutes straight how diabolical Hayden's choice in colour is," he rolls his eyes leaning back on the chair and Jackie snorts taking a sip out from her coctail.
"Hayden did the same thing. He asked me to ask you if Ilya is colour blind because he obviously can't see the difference in the colours."
"They are so deep into it," Shane sighs again.
"But hey, at least they are getting along."
"Or my husband is trying to flirt with your husband. Either way as long as they don't include us in the middle I think we'll be fine."

“Rozanov!” Shane hisses, looking around in alarm. Hayden quickly turns his head in the opposite direction and pretends to be studying a credit union advertisement on the boards, but internally there are alarm bells going off.
It’s not the way Shane would react if Rozanov had said his usual grandstanding bullshit. He reacted like Rozanov had said something incriminating. Like Rozanov knew something about him, that he didn’t want anyone else to find out about.
Sure, Hayden didn’t hear the whole thing, but he heard enough. Rails? There’s only one thing Rozanov could have been talking about. Hayden may be a clean-cut family man, but he’s been privy to enough locker room talk to know what rails are. With sudden, horrifying clarity, he knows exactly what’s going on:
Shane does coke, and Rozanov is his dealer.
