Summary
This is a collection of side pieces for my main story, We Were, Together. I strongly suggest you read that before this, though it's not like I can stop you. These story fragments are things that help me understand my characters, but also, I thought they'd be nice to read.
There will be notes on the main story to let you know when each of these chapters are ok to be read. Otherwise, you risk the chance of spoiling the story for yourself, and considering how many years I've worked on this story, it would be deeply saddening if that happened.

“No matter what you are or what you do, my sword and shield are for you, not against you,” Ayth said, and she fell to her knees before him like he was the executioner. She rested on her ankles and bowed her head, and her hands fell limply into her lap.
He remembered the first time he learned of Ayth, moments before she appeared in person. How he had imagined a dressed up woman decked out for a stroll and not an adventure, someone who’d probably never even seen a weapon up close let alone held one. When he met her, he was sure that despite her appearance she wasn’t all Gandalf said she was. She was thin, smiled too willingly, and had dressy clothes for a warrior nomad. Something had to be wrong with her image and story, and he still sometimes wondered how some of that first night fit into her personality now.

“So you guys don’t... fight?” Mike asked. She trilled low in her throat and shook her head.
“We’re friends, Mike.” She said, and these words felt original. Not mimicked at all. That fact made him pause. He finally looked at her, only to find she was already leveling him with an even stare. She knew he got her implications. ‘We’ didn’t just mean the three wendigos. She was including him.
“Well... do Brodigo and Friendigo know that I’m an amigo?” Was Mike’s next question, and the flash of a smile he got showed how pleased she was. She looked back at what she was doing, which was cleaning the deer legs of flesh. He wondered how thorough she was going to be. She might cut it into strips for him.

That Night on Blackwood Mountain taught the four surviving friends how much friendship was capable of, and how dangerous it was. It could drag the strongest under, could bring the cowardly to fight, could make the most fearful face wendigos... It can even make it impossible to turn your back on your psycho friend, still stuck in the mountain, even after all he did. Which was why Sam and Chris were going to save him.

Now your goal is to get through the Underground alive, and you'll have even harder decisions to make along the way. Friends, Enemies, accidents, coincidences. You're not the first human to fall, and you won't be the last. You'll have to stay Confident if you want to survive.
But that's easy. Getting out of the Underground is hard.

She runs at the altar, goes through hell with trauma, learns to love herself, chooses humanity, and chooses Jacob. This is a character-focused and wolfpack-focused fic that leans into the psychological horror potential of Twilight. It is an angsty, agonizing slowburn. The Cullens are not cast in a good light.
