He grit his teeth and made no movement as his arms were struck again and again.
He lost count after twelve strikes, keeping his focus instead on not betraying his emotions or the pain he felt.
When it was over, Mother walked over to him and held his face in her hands. She smelled of that familiar scent of cinnamon and jade.
“I love you, My Alexander. Never forget that. You know I must do this to keep your grandfather from inflicting a greater punishment. Keep your head up, and I shall see you again. I trust that next time I visit, none of this shall be needed.”
“Yes, Mother.”
And with a breeze, she was gone.
Damian wasn’t foolish. He knew his mother had an ulterior motive for him being a part of the Wayne family. He still hoped that he would become close enough with them that they could help him stand up to her.
But he knows deep down that will never happen.

Summary
They say time is a sensitive thing. I'm not too sure who "they" are, but they do have a point. A pebble can cause a ripple that sends everything off in a new direction. Sonic and his friends take fate into their own hands repeatedly, turning the odds to their favor. Others will argue that fate had always intended them to win, those odds were not as they seemed. Tampered with or not, fate had a plan. And if something got in the way, it wouldn't just let all that hard work go to waste.
What if Tails knew a little bit more about the Paradox Prism than he was letting on? That "Sonic, Wait!" Having more context.
Welcome to The Other Side of the Coin. When you think of perfect duos, Sonic and Tails certainly come to mind. The most pure definition of found family. A character who's a big ball of energy, with the more level-headed brother to think things through. Or, one anxious character to overthink everything with his brother there to help him loosen up. No matter how you put it, they compliment one another. But when they aren't together, maybe one would try to composite for the missing partner in crime a little too much. Summary
