"And then there's a customized copy of PONY PALS, a gift to you on your 14th birthday from the slippery Mr. Strider. Each page contains lovingly hand-written commentary on the deeds of this intrepid young horse. Later, about halfway through the book, rather than see the gag through to the bitter end, Strider began pasting over entire pages of original text with his own completely rewritten version of the story, while keeping all the chapter titles. His revision is a tough, emotionally draining read. But it's cathartic, in all the worst ways possible.
He tends to get carried away with his projects."Note: this work is an altered book, and it plays on the physical relationship between the original pages and the edited text. As such, it's presented as a series of images. Reading the images is the only way to get the full experience, but I'm aware that some people can't/don't want to read it that way. So if that's the case, you can skip to chapter 13, which is a text-only version of the story, including rough descriptions of the most important illustrations.

No more, no less. I don't bargain. Or maybe I do, who's to say?” MePhone shrugged innocently before opening a stopwatch application on… himself. “Any questions?”
Paintbrush raised their hand. “Yeah, can we—”
“Set, ready, go!”
Paintbrush lowered their hand. “Every time!”
OJ studied at the rotary phone on top of the table. It didn't appear to be the most modern gadget, but it could probably get the job done. Most people would probably rack their brains for a few precious seconds figuring out which person they would choose to call before being disconnected indefinitely. But not OJ—he knew exactly who he needed to call. He took a deep breath and punched in the number.

“Thank you, Shishou.” he pauses, thinking. “I — You are too. A good person..” Mob says it so earnestly. “You work really hard, helping people.” Reigen staunchly ignores the feeling in his throat. Nope. Time to tell a joke.
“I dressed as a woman to exorcise that spirit, that one time. At the girls' school.” He laughs boisterously, but it leaves an bad taste in his mouth. “I think that alone shows my commitment to helping people.” The waiter shows up at their table to get their order at this point, and Reigen feels his face redden a little. He recovers, and orders their food quickly. Mob looks a bit constipated again, picking a little at his increasingly frayed uniform.
“You okay, Mob? If you wanna order something else, it’s not too late to change it. I can go back real quick and —“
“Ah, no. I like the food.” He’s still picking at the cuff of his sleeve. Reigen frowns.

Spamton sprayed the compressed air into his smug face.
That would have been preferable to drowning in insulation foam and getting licked clean by a clown (“HANDS OFF THE [[Officil Merchandise]]!!”). Jevil’s nuisance was missed as soon it was over though, because then all he had was the realization that that was his last chance. To do what, he isn’t sure. To demand an apology. To explain why he ran away. To scream at him. To break that stupid screen himself, just to get it over with, and crawl inside there never to emerge. Then at least they’d be together.

An unseen, silent, approximately 4 foot tall individual takes it upon himself to fix the fallen Lord of the Screens. To raise a middle finger to the mysterious phone-calling, prophecy-defining benefactor who screwed him over and made him a living puppet, of course. No other reason.

He stops dead on the pavement, grips Mob by the shoulders, and stares down into his eyes with an expression as haunted as though every ghost the pair of them has ever exorcised has taken up residence behind it. “Mob,” he says. “Mob,” he says again. “Tell me, Mob. Look at me and tell me. Tell me truthfully. Do I look cursed to you?”
Mob looks at him, and tells him truthfully. “No.”
“Well, you didn’t look very long,” says Reigen. “Let’s just stand here for a moment, like so, and you can have another look, a nice long look, and really think about it...”
(There's nothing strange about being called back to exorcise the same haunted photocopier six days in a row. It must just be a very haunted photocopier.)
