The hexgates flare to life, and the room is bathed in brilliant, cascading light. Arcs of energy ripple across the gate’s surface, bending space into a shimmering, kaleidoscopic void. For a second, Jayce thinks he hears something—a faint, harmonic hum, like a note held just on the edge of hearing.
It works.
Jayce’s breath catches, his grin splitting into something wide and wild as he turns to Viktor. “It works!” he shouts, his voice breaking with exhilaration. “Viktor, it works!”
Viktor doesn’t answer immediately. He’s staring at the gate, his expression unreadable, his eyes reflecting the shifting lights. And then, slowly, he nods, his lips quirking into a small, tired smile.
“Yes,” he says softly. “It does.”
For a long moment, neither of them speaks. They just stand there, side by side, watching the impossible unfold before their eyes.
In every timeline, in every universe, with every possibility, it starts the same.

Summary
Therapy isn't working out for Tim (possibly because he has like, way too many issues), so Dinah suggests he try music therapy instead. This turns out to be such a good idea he drafts it to his team and suddenly he's moonlighting as a rock singer in a band that's rising in popularity. Maintaining a new "secret" identity is easy enough, and he's having a lot of fun!
Unfortunately for Tim, it seems he's a bit TOO good at the secret identity thing, because his family doesn't seem to realize that it's him.
Ugh, this is just proving his point.

Tim turns away. “Yeah, well, I need my best friend back more. You should be all for that, so would it kill you to shut up and let me work?” Fuck. He needs a pill. He takes one from the handful he keeps in his utility belt and swallows it dry, ignoring Conner’s damning stare.

The exhaustion wasn’t just physical; it was something heavier, something that went beyond the bruises and the burns. It was the weight of trying, of failing, of carrying the responsibility of being part of this family, this mission, and never feeling like he could measure up. He’d watched Dick handle everything with such ease, watched Jason throw himself into battles with reckless confidence, watched Damian’s fierce determination—and all he’d ever felt was the constant, gnawing need to keep up, to prove himself worthy of standing beside them.
But no matter how hard he tried, it felt like he was always a step behind, always catching up, always making mistakes that Bruce would point out with that same, unwavering gaze.
Sometimes, its the after part of the missions that gets to you. They don't get better.

Tim Drake, aged 16, is lonely once again. But now he's Robin. He keeps talking into the walkie, and his one-man audience happens to still be the same... if a bit more murderous.

“Okay,” Nami says, feeling her third headache in as many hours beginning to creep up. “What is this?”
“How he sleeps, I guess. Been doing it since we started sailing together.”
“You’re joking.”
Roronoa shrugs.
“Well, how do we get him to let go?”
“Dunno. Haven’t figured that part out yet,” Roronoa says and then, because he’s no help at all, lays back down.

Even without context, as always Dick is enthralling in his storytelling. “What’s happening?” Tim asks, fascinated to know what’s got Dick so animated this time.
It’s the smallest of expressions.
Dick blinks at him, like for a moment, he forgot Tim was there.
Then he’s twisting in his chair to face him, eyes bright with the promise of a new audience. “Okay, so - remember how I told you about my new manager at the studio? Well get this - he made this new rule that audience members aren’t allowed to wear hats when they come to see the kids’ recitals. It’s part of the ‘audience dress code’, a thing which one hundred percent he just made up himself - ”
Tim watches Dick attentively. He laughs at all the right points. He even lets out a small gasp when he knows it’s expected.
And it’s good. It’s a good story, and Dick is so happy to tell it.

The frustrating thing when he gets like this is that it’s never triggered by anything real.
