This is a personal request from a fan, Katrinna Le Fay (yes, I do requests; sometimes it takes awhile, though).
Jim and Spock meet as children. Jim's mother is absent; his caretakers are abusive. Sarek and Amanda rescue their son's friend and raise the boys together. They discover they are t'hy'la and are bonded. Spock goes to Earth to join Starfleet; Jim goes with him.
This will be sort-of Abrams, with a dash of AU mixed in. for example, I'm not killing off Amanda. Enjoy.

I’m hit or miss with soulmate fics but I really enjoyed this.
Moving soul marks cause a misunderstanding but Harry wants (and gets) draco before he tests if he’s Draco’s soulmate and wants Draco regardless, knowing Draco is his perfect person, even when Harry thinks he doesn’t have a soulmate. -
