“Oh B, what has happened to you?” Optimus whispered, and Bee pinched his optics closed, hard.
“I am sorry I could not protect you, little one.”
“W-what-t-t?-?” Bee’s radio cracked as he replayed an audio from an old Western he’d seen Charlie watching one time.
Optimus’ optics sharped as he jerked his head around to stare into Bee’s own optics.
“That is not your voice, young one.” The statement was questioning, as though the Prime couldn’t understand why Bee wasn’t using his real voice to ask the question.
Bee cowered, sinking down in Optimus’ lap.
Optimus’ servos gently gripped Bee’s shoulders, forcing the young scout to look at him. The leader's optics stared directly into Bee’s, and Bee swallowed nervously.
“Are. . . are you unable to talk B-127?”OR
My lil baby Bee is a little ball of trauma and PTSD, Optimus is doubting his parenting skills, and Bumblebee just needs some love. (Post Bumblebee movie!)

In the chaos after Mission City, Sam hadn't actually stopped to think about what it meant when he agreed to Bumblebee's request.
It had been instinct —a desperate urge not to be separated again from the only person who made him feel safe when he was surrounded by so much danger— to agree to let Bumblebee stay with him.
The logistics and implications of a super intelligent and powerful warrior lowering himself to being his driver and little else hadn't occurred to him until much later.
After Mission City, but before Egypt, there's a pocket of time in which Sam and Bumblebee just live.

Suspended in a limbo of space that felt as dense as molasses, Bumblebee wasn’t even able to sense the energy of his own Spark. All of his systems had abruptly gone into stasis. There were no enemies or allies, no purpose or peril. There was no more war. There was nothing but him and the figure lying motionless on the ground from whom he couldn’t pull his optics away.
And then, everything came crashing back.
Sam comes back to life in Egypt; Bumblebee still grieves.

A spacebridge mishap. A cry for help. And the universes have no clear idea on how to fix what's happening so it is to be expected that something goes wrong.
Optimus Prime finds himself in the middle of a war he's sorely underequipped to deal with, while dealing with the fact that now he should be hiding from the humans while being practically babied by the war veterans, though it comes to light that he has far much more to offer than anyone realizes.
And in the meanwhile Optimus Prime has difficulties adjusting to his temporary home, where things appear idyllic and at peace and he's not sure if it is just a facade or he's suffering from the type of paranoia that can only be bred by millennia long war.
