Ed fucking loves roller coasters. When Ed was nine years old and her shitfuck dad finally keeled over for unknown reasons, her mama packed all their stuff and drove them to a beach side town, finding work in the local amusement park.
The roller coaster was a towering structure, especially for a scrawny little girl like she had been. She would crane her neck to see the whole thing, stunned silent by the glittering lights adorning the rail and the joyful screams from the passengers zooming past her eyes.
She wanted nothing more than to run to the operator lady and beg her to let her ride it. But she was glued to her spot, nervous and a tiny bit scared to take on the challenge.
Then a girl collided right into her, scared but clearly trying to be brave. Ed took her hand. Maybe they could try to be brave together.
