Summary
A heavy guilt blankets the room, and no one dares to say anything as Korra reaches for the straps holding Asami against the chair, desperately undoing the buckles and pulling her hands into hers. She searches Asami’s eyes, too stubborn to acknowledge what her heart already suspects has happened to the woman she loves.
She repeats Asami’s name, beckoning to her, begging for some kind of response that never comes. She reaches up and cards her thumbs through Asami’s hair, pulling back loose black strands and clearing her features to take in fully. She brings their foreheads together and refuses to pull away from Asami, refuses to peel her eyes from hers as she searches for even a fraction of hope.
Asami’s expression remains blank, and Korra’s heart splinters.

Summary
Asami knows that, objectively, this isn’t the smartest thing that she's ever done.
To be fair, she’s done a lot of smart things, so it’s hard to get to the top of the list, but there’s really no debate that this is near the bottom.
There’s a reason that she didn’t tell Korra what she was going to do, because Korra would have immediately told her no, that it isn’t worth it.
Because Korra - sweet sweet lovely Korra - is so selfless, and wouldn’t dare put Asami in danger, even if Asami was offering to help.
Which is why Asami finds herself alone, approaching a Red Lotus stronghold.
(Asami takes it upon herself to find some answers for Korra)

Summary
Korra’s not really sure when she lost sight of Asami.
It’s been a blur, ever since she stepped out of the Spirit Portal and Kuvira was taken away. She had hoped that they would at the very least have a little break, considering they literally just defeated a dictator that was threatening to take over the entire city or burn it to the ground trying. Raiko’s never been accused of being sympathetic though.
She’s only been back a couple weeks, and she already can’t stand him.
(Korra loses Asami immediately after the defeat of Kuvira, and then goes to find her)

He’s probably just… chasing down another perp or... something. It’s-
Hank’s eyes land on a long, thick smear of blue Thirium spread across the hood of the semi-truck.
His heart drops.

Summary
“No, no. Pfft, as if. I just - forgot to pay for this.” Korra’s mouth - ever the focus of Asami’s attention - twists into a frown as she stares guiltily at her almost finished dessert.
Asami can’t imagine the stall keeper will be too upset, between Korra preventing a teenage shakedown and the stellar advertising of the Avatar’s patronage… but Korra looks troubled, and Asami is first and foremost a kickass girlfriend.
“I wouldn’t worry too much,” Asami soothes. She lays a hand on Korra’s back, tracing a comforting loop. “We can circle back and pay if you want but… I mean, it’s one banana, Korra. What could it cost? Fifty yuan?”

It takes every bit of strength Asami has to tear her gaze away from Korra and offer Beifong a small, polite smile. The woman looks the same as she did years ago, though the freezing hatred in her gaze has been replaced with hard-edged practicality. She knows the expression well: the look of a businesswoman prepared to close an unsavoury deal.
“Look, Sato,” Beifong says. “We need your help.”

With Republic City under threat from Kuvira's spirit weapon, it must turn to its brightest technological minds for help: one of them is the imprisoned ex-Equalist Asami Sato, the Avatar's old flame.
