Aranessa hadn't stopped shaking.
Julien thought, or maybe just hoped, that it had eased a little after she'd eaten. She'd curled up in bed without argument, beneath the druid-warmed blanket, but even facing away from him, he could tell she wasn't asleep. Her breathing had the faintest little shudder to it, and her grip on the blanket was a little too tight.
Julien watched the shift of her shoulders and the dense fall of her hair in the dark and felt utterly helpless.
Or: Lying together in the dark, Julien tries to take care of his lady as best he can, and maybe needs a little caring for himself.

"Ever perceptive, my lady." Julien's bow is precise, regimented, rehearsed - exactly as deep as it needs to be to convey respect to the other Houses, and not an inch more. Trust him, of all people, to treat a social situation like a combat encounter. "What gave it away?"
"The hunched shoulders, mostly. Also the frowning, and the general air of aggression."
That coaxes a laugh out of him, a low, barking thing. He snorts, rolls his eyes at Aranessa for the barb, and she finds herself hard pressed not to smile, yet again.
It's easy to be informal around him. Too easy. It's part of why she tries to keep some degree of distance at events like this, more for her sake than his. She can't let the mask slip - but with him, the temptation has always been to forgo it entirely.

Julien is woefully out of practice in the ways of dance. Aranessa is more than happy to help teach him.

It’s only because he can hear her heels come up behind him that Julien doesn’t startle when he feels slender fingers in his hair, combing through his dark curls. “He’s so unfairly pretty, isn’t he?” she asks.
For a moment, Julien thinks she’s speaking to him, about Thjazi, and his entire thought process comes to a screeching halt as he attempts to figure out what the fuck to say to that. Until the orc gives his wife a sort of mock-toast, and he realizes Aranessa was talking about him.This is a complete crackpairing but I just had to. I mean c'mon, they're all hot, I love some good hate sex and some unrequited feelings, the idea just HAD to be done.

Rebecca Owens started her job at River Fields Mortuary under the impression that it would be a normal job. However, after being thrown headfirst into a world of demons by her enigmatic boss, Raymond Delver, she realizes that this job was never normal. After letting out the demon in the basement, Rebecca must decide whether she wants to continue working at the mortuary or leave it all behind. Little does she know that the man who employs her is bound to hell in ways she could never imagine.This is set after the sixth ending of The Mortuary Assistant and proceeds from there, almost as if it were a sequel game. So expect shenanigans and lots of lore and demons. Also, Zoey - I felt like she deserved to be more of a character, since we get so little of her in the game!
It is worth mentioning that the themes in the tags don't always go into explicit detail. I've tried hard to make this a good read, without being gratuitous in potentially triggering themes. This is a psychological horror more than anything, but I would rather overtag than potentially trigger anyone!

Last she'd seen Julien, he'd been standing guard outside, unable to be persuaded that it wasn't necessary. Thaisha wasn't sure if it was because she was the one asking or if he just couldn't stand the idea of doing nothing.
Now, though, he was nowhere to be found. Thaisha frowned and did a quick loop before she went to the next most likely place for him to be.
The door to Aranessa's borrowed room was still half-open, and Thaisha peeked inside to find her not in bed, but sitting on the small couch on the other side of the room, eyes fixed on nothing in particular. Thaisha could see her only in profile, but she could tell that she hadn't slept.
Or: Thaisha gets a glimpse of Aranessa and Julien, in the wreckage of all they've lost, and starts to understand how little she understands him.
