He walked forward across the marble floor, every step echoing like it was mocking him for not knowing what to do with his hands. At the end of the long aisle, Queen Yumi Nakaya sat on an elevated seat of carved wood and silver, robed in deep purple, her posture graceful and severe all at once.
And beside her, lounging slightly in his ornate chair, was a familiar figure.
Blue hair.
Red eyes.
That unmistakable smirk.
Ken’s feet stopped.
No. Absolutely not.
The boy— no, the prince— grinned wider, eyes lighting up like a cat spotting a particularly slow bird.
“Good morning, Royal Tutor Hasegawa,” he said sweetly. “I trust you’re feeling better today? No sudden head injuries?”
Ken’s stomach dropped into his shoes. He barely managed to bow before blurting, “You’re the prince?!”

On their way to the Arctic in the Stan o' War, Ford and Stan dock at an Alaskan mining town for supplies. Before they know it, they're pulled into a hunt for a mysterious creature that's possessing and killing local oil field workers.
Basically an excuse to write lots of sibling banter, high-stakes cryptid hunts, and that sweet, sweet hurt/comfort.

Stan tries to blink his eyes back into focus, but he’s still seeing white. Fuck, did that thing blind him? He waves a hand in front of his eyes, a little surprised when his fingers clearly come into view against the white. Okay, he can still see, but if he’s not blind, then that means…
Horror dawns on him as he realizes he’s staring at the snowy exterior of Ford’s house. His trembling hands come up to rest on the steering wheel. He’s back in his car. What the fuck?
Stan’s mind is racing. How did he get back out here? His eyes dart to the clock on the dashboard, but wait, that can’t be right. He doesn’t know exactly how long he spent in Ford’s place, half an hour? An hour, maybe? But no, the hands haven’t moved an inch.
OR
Stan finds himself stuck in a time loop on the day that he visits Ford in Oregon after ten long years apart. Stan struggles to keep Ford safe and figure out what's making him so paranoid while also trying to understand and escape the time loop. He's beginning to think that he's doomed to be a loser, but he's not sure which is worse: losing his brother or losing his mind.

Stan didn’t know what he expected. Just a larger version of the kid he had known in high school, really. Sure they were identical, but Stan hadn’t been the person who looked like his brother in a long time. New scars, constant stubble, greasy mullet, dirty clothes, couple new teeth…He wasn’t exactly his best self. Ford seemed to be doing just fine, last he heard, what with his fancy house up in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, so he had assumed that he would be more…stable.
He noted his shaking hands, the relentless pacing he had picked up, back and forth through the room like a caged animal. He took in the unshaved face, the sunken eyes with dark shadows so deep they may as well be bruises. He looked pale and skinny, like he hadn’t been eating enough. Still, Ford stared ahead, hands clutching a book he had picked up during his rambles, eyes flicking back and forth like he was reading the blank air.
What was this guy so afraid of way out here?
In which there's slightly more communication when Stan first comes to Gravity Falls, and it makes all the difference.

There were only a handful of people in the world who knew that childhood nickname, and only one with that voice, however different it sounded over the phone, but there was no doubt in Stan's mind.

When Stan received the postcard from his brother, he wasn’t quite sure how to feel. On one hand, it had been over a decade since he last saw his twin, and he wanted nothing more than to reunite. On the other… it had been over a decade since he last saw his twin, who had just let their father kick Stan out onto the street over an accident.
I've been seeing people play around with the idea of Ford accidentally shooting Stan when they meet up again in ATOTS, so I wanted to give it a go! This is my first ever fic, so please don't judge it too harshly, I just wanted to try something new :3 If this gets enough traction/I have enough fun writing, this will absolutely continue- and maybe I'll try out some other fics too :D
