Tommy wakes up to the feeling of being held, a warm body rumbling against his back. This certainly wasn’t where he was last, huddled under his tent as the cold nipped at his skin. As he slowly blinked into reality he registered several things.
One. There shouldn’t be anyone cuddling with him. Two. There were ropes biting into his skin, chafing uncomfortably. Three. He wasn’t on the beach anymore, a spruce forest surrounding him. And finally, four. He had extra limbs that weren’t there before. He could feel them on his head, his back, and further on.

Summary
Hank&Connor flee Detroit overnight after both are driven to the brink of committing suicide during the final days of the revolution. Taking refuge in Canada, they have to learn how to live with each other, help each other heal. Which isn't exactly as heartwarming as it sounds. Hank could fill a novel with his emotional baggage - alcoholism, depression & selfhatred over the death of his son. Connor is quick to catch up to him with his own share of problems- the constant threat of Amanda and another possible hacking attempt by Cyberlife leave him terrified of losing control. He's clueless about the concept of identity, free will and emotions, wants nothing more than to stay a machine. After all, he's only deviated in order to stop his partner from killing himself, not because he'd wanted to be free.
After a few weeks together, things seem to get better. Androids are close to gaining their rights in America. Hank and Connor are starting to form an actual familial bond. The Lieutenant is almost becoming hopeful after years of mindless cynicism. Then Connor starts slipping out of their home at night on a regular basis, believing Hank doesn't notice. He sure does. After all, he used to be the DPDs very best.

Tommy had never known a life without his pod, without his parents. But when he wakes up one morning to find his home and nest destroyed and his parents, as well as the rest of his pod, missing. Life doesn’t look promising anymore. He’s too young to be on his own by himself. So he shivers and starves in his ruined nest.
Wilbur was honestly not sure how it came to be. One moment he was enjoying a brisk swim along the coast, something he rarely did, and the next he was hearing the desperate calls of a lone mer pup. Next thing he knew the tiny thing was in his arms. Well, more like his palms. The pup was so small as were all tropical mer were when compared to Wilbur’s large size. That’s what happened when you were born and raised in the deep abysses of the ocean. But he had found this pup, and he was going to take care of them.

Mr. Sam pursed his lips as if trying not to spook him. “An old friend of mine runs the studio and is hosting this free class as a recruitment of sorts. I figured you could use an outlet for all of that pent up energy you always have.”
Tommy opened his mouth to speak, but it took him a few seconds to find the right words. When he finally did, he winced at the way his voice lilted with uncertainty. “But…I’m not a dancer?”
Mr. Sam chuckled softy, nodding. “Maybe not, but I think you might surprise yourself.” When Tommy didn’t seem convinced, he added, “Listen, it’s not a commitment, just a single class. If you decide to go, it’s just to try it out and if you like it, you can keep going. If not, you forget about it and no harm done.”
Tommy bit his lip, glancing back down at the flyer. Mr. Sam certainly had a lot more faith in him than he himself did. And the last thing he wanted was to disappoint the person who’s class he actually looked forward to. His grip tightened almost out of determination, wrinkling the edges around his fingers. “...I’ll think about it.”

Summary
Tommy looks at the ceiling with stars in his eyes. He thinks of Tubbo and how much he misses him, and that kid from the ice-cream shop, Wilbur, and his brother and their sad smiles. He thinks of how much of a cool dad Phil must be to let his kids swear in front of him, and he wishes he could swear in front of Dream, or just breathe without being smacked around.
Tommy knows this isn't how people are supposed to treat their foster kids but maybe he's like one of Pavlov's dogs, because when the hand on his hair is gentle enough, he's been trained to understand that means the punishment is over. Dream is letting him off easy and he starts to patch up his injuries and this - this is the reward, and Tommy's stuttered apologies come naturally.
He's a fighter most of the time; just maybe not today.

So when humans decided to move into his house, he was pissed.

Tommy inches his way closer to the green rifle, gasping when it floats towards him and cementing itself in his hands. The ammo does the same, weighing down his cargo pockets.
The gun feels all too real in his hands, and with an expertise he didn't know he had, Tommy lifts the scope to his eye and takes a shot. Sure enough, the gun fires, a sharp bop that sounds like the striker ARs Tommy’s a huge fan of.
When he plays the video game, not in his hands.

Summary
Human legs are so weird.
They bend weird, they have no scales to protect them, and there’s a couple digits at the end that seem more of a liability than helpful.
Tommy’s proven correct when he tries to stand on them, pushing himself off the sand and toppling forward all in the same action. So they’re weak as well. How do humans get around all day, every day? Never mind the fact that they seem useless in water. How do they swim?
Even worse are his hands, similar in form to his human legs—in the sense of having multiple digits—but these ones are long. They bend like the legs, two knobs allowing Tommy to clench and unclench them repeatedly.
How peculiar.

Fuck, even Tommy from a month ago would have called him crazy. But after turning eighteen and promptly being kicked out of the foster system, Tommy needs the extra money in order to make rent next week. His landlord is infamous for using the Purge to dispose of tenants who can’t make their rent on time.
There’s gunshots to the left of the gas station, somebody’s filling about ten red canisters of gas, and two cars race down the street in front of him. A loud crash comes from the direction of the cars, and Tommy winces, unmoving. It’s the fucking Purge, he’s not going to go out into the open and get killed just to make sure two idiots are alive.
Or: Tommy's short on money and works overnight at the gas station during the Purge. Somehow he leaves with a whole new family.
