Even if it’s not in his nature, nor in Kaitou Kid’s, Shinichi suspects, life-or-death situations do indeed make strange bedfellows of them all.

.Or, Conan and Kaitou KID hurtle at breakneck speed towards conciliation (and also the ocean) in the world’s longest free fall.
Bonus points for banter, extremely American dialogue (my apologies), and what I can only describe as my unhinged pining for a version of Kuroba Kaito that I’m not entirely sure actually exists.

He’s even used to waking up to his phone ringing from an urgent call telling him he’s needed immediately even though it’s three in the morning and he hasn’t had a decent night’s sleep in weeks. What he’s not used to is waking up naked and sore in a bed he doesn’t recognize to someone screeching in his ears. He likes to think that he’s pretty good at rolling with the punches, he has to be in order to survive doing what he does, but this might be stretching it a little.
He distinctly remembers going to sleep in his own bed last night, fully clothed, after finishing his latest batch of paperwork. Did someone move him here while he was asleep? How? He’s not a heavy sleeper, no S-class is with their enhanced senses, so how could somebody have moved him all the way to wherever here is? Sonic had been fighting Eggman for as long as he could remember. He knew how the man worked far better than anyone else. So, when the mad doctor became The Tinkerer, he was the first to tell the others to leave him be. Sure, there was some objections here and there, but eventually, everyone came around. Everyone…except Shadow and Espio. Both were still heavily against the notion that the Doctor could change, even under the effects of amnesia. Still, the two conceded after they saw just how different The Tinkerer was when compared to Eggman. While unhappy, they’d let the man live his new life so long as he stayed far away from their bustling society. A wonderful compromise in Sonic’s opinion! They get to live without threat of a sudden robot invasion, and Eggman gets to grow into the good person he remem- believed he could be. Everyone wins here!
So why was it that after Sonic came back from a short trip a couple of islands over, he discovers that the man is dead?
Or:
The people of Mobius really don’t like the fact that Eggman doesn’t have his breathing privileges revoked and decides to fix it. Sonic…doesn’t take the news too well.Edit:

But it does create something of a problem when Alastor’s business associates happen to be precisely the type of target for one such infamous Sinner. Alastor isn’t sure what irritates him more: a rival muscling into his territory, or Charlie’s reckless optimism that ruthless murderers can be saved.
At least one will certainly be the second death of him.
