Summary
Tanjirou Kamado and his sister Nezuko Kamado grew up under the care of the Ubuyashiki family after being orphaned in an accident at a young age. While they were given the option to leave the temple once they were old enough, they chose to stay. The Ubuyashiki family had given them so much, it only felt fair they repay it somehow.
They start out as attendants for the Water God's Saint, but things flip upside down by pure coincidence and accident—and their roles are changed.

Summary
“The worst was what wasn’t there. Every accomplishment, every good thing Yoriichi had ever done, that Kokushibo could ever remember him doing. None of it had made it into this book.
His little brother’s self-loathing was etched into every page.
Why? Why had Yoriichi thought so little of himself? How could he not see all the good he’d done?”
Or:
On the day of Kokushibo and Yoriichi’s fight, Kokushibo finds a journal tucked away beside the flute he’d made for Yoriichi.
It changes everything.

The New Year had just arrived, and the Kamado family was looking forward to spending it with their dear friends, the Tokitos. But fate had other plans in store for them. Nezuko, Tanjiro's younger sister, fell ill, and their plans were thrown into disarray. As such, Tanjiro and his cousin Muichiro set out to find medicine but ended up spending the night with an old man named Saburo.
The next morning, they set off back toward the Kamado household. But as they made their way up the mountain, they couldn't help but notice something was amiss. The air felt heavy, and the forest was eerily quiet. What awaited them at the end of their journey was something they could never have expected. It was a day that would change their lives forever.

Summary
The man looked awfully like him, yet he carried himself with that sickly face. However, his eyes burnt with something Tanjiro could not decipher.
"Do you know why every dawn, we would push this huge chunk of snow down the mountain, Tanjirou?" The man's head tilts to look at him, the familiar hanafuda earrings in sight. It reminded him of the one his Kaa-san had gotten crafted for Yoriichi-nii. Yet, Tanjirou could not stop the next words from spilling from his mouth. "Why Tou-san?"
"We push away the snow, to make all this easier for our family."
Tsugikuni Tanjirou wakes up with a gasp.
