With the bait set, Erenville had nothing to do but wait for their escaped punutiy to be drawn in. As time ticked on, however, he found himself puzzled as to why the creature was taking so long to appear. Scanning the depths of the lake revealed the problem: his girl was hiding in a crevice, staring back up at him but stubbornly refusing to move. He had no other baits to use, and had nothing on his person that could be used to attract the timid creature out of its shelter. With a limited window to get their raft back in working order, Erenville only saw one solution. He'd have to swim down there and coax the beast out manually.

Wanting to unwind after spending all day being a chaperone, Kawakami decides to spend some time actually enjoying Hawaii, mainly in the form of sitting on the beach and trying out foreign alcohol. Trying to swim after that inebriation, however, proves to be a mistake, as she's unable to make it back to shore before the sea claims her. Thankfully an onlooker noticed in time to dive in for the rescue, but the alcohol and near-drowning was enough to leave the teacher unconscious. A temptation that her savior is unable to resist.

The introduction of Wuk Lamat and her boundless energy, however, was heavily testing her abilities. In a haze of overstimulation, one beacon helped to retain her sanity: Erenville. The only one in the group who wasn't draining to be around for extended periods of time. The one who seemed to ease her nerves, the easiest one to talk to... and the one who made her heart thump in her chest. She had held her tongue thus far, but with the Rite of Succession stretching out before them, she knew she wouldn't be able to hide it forever. It wasn't the easiest thing for her, far from it, but trying to hold her feelings close to her chest was even harder. She had to at least try.
