Grace is pretty sure everyone is overreacting. After all, it's a cough. A cold? The sniffles, at worst. It's nothing to freak out about and it surely doesn't warrant this type of shutdown, right?

Grace knows he isn't the only one on the god forsaken crew that loves coffee, but over the past couple of years working for Stratt, he has developed a co-dependency. Allegedly.
No, he is not upset that the coffee machines are currently being repaired and he hasn't had coffee in over 24 hours. No, he isn't absolutely done with everything and everyone in this god damn room that just won't shut up. Bite him. He just wants coffee. And he refuses to have energy drinks. It is one hundred percent not the same!

The familiar clunky sound of Rocky’s footsteps in his xenonite suit grow steadily nearer as he scuttles over. I must’ve alerted him with my griping and groaning. So much for not being a bother.
He stops near the foot of my bed.
“Rocky heard Grace make noise.”
“Sorry about that,” I say, voice muffled.
“No apology, Grace.” He scolds, “Am worried, not bothered. What is wrong, question?”
“My tummy hurts.” I say matter-of-factly into my pillow, “And I’m being a big baby about it.”

Grace hasn’t had someone to take care of him when he’s sick in a long, long while. Having forgotten that he’s lactose intolerant, he’s now battling an upset stomach, which Rocky is determined to soothe. Grace finds that Rocky’s help may be exactly what he needed.

Summary
So, Rocky promised to do fewer late-at-night-while-Grace-is-asleep Wikipedia spirals, and I promised to write up some procedures for Rocky to follow in the event of various medical emergencies. I wasn't a medical doctor, but I was closer to it than Rocky, so I got to do a few Wikipedia spirals of my own, writing up a manual on how Rocky might plausibly remove my appendix or restart my heart if it stopped. I found the process strangely soothing, thinking about how Rocky would care for me if I needed him to, how Rocky always wanted to care for me. Putting my life in his hands was nothing new, really, but it was funny how often I ended up happy-crying while writing up a Rocky-friendly explanation of an endoscopy or a tracheostomy or a limb amputation. Because all I could think was how much I trusted him, how he made me feel so safe.
Rocky memorized every word that I wrote, and made his own notes as well. The How to Fix Grace binder, as I labelled it, grew thicker and thicker as we made plans to look after my soft human body.
So, after all that, of course it was Rocky who got sick.
