Turns out, the housing market is ruthless.
An old mansion, tucked away from civilization, where every door hid a different resident—and almost all of them looked like they had crawled straight out of a nightmare. Psychopaths whose faces had probably appeared on a WANTED poster at some point, creatures that defied all logic, monsters wrapped in urban legends and rumors. The kind of people any sane person would run from without looking back.
But you were desperate.
And honestly, when the rent is that cheap, you can overlook the fact that your neighbor might be a serial killer or some supernatural entity. At the very least, the house seemed to have some sense of order. There was a tall man, always impeccably dressed in a black suit, who managed the mansion and was always available whenever you needed him.
