All Zagreus, son of Lightning and Seasons, has ever known were the lavish feasts, overbearing mothers and the heavy hand of his father's orders. Sure, he has black hair unlike the rest of his family, and his grassy green eyes may be a little too sensitive to the light of Helios, but that never made anybody, not even himself suspicious of who he might actually come from.
As the youngest Prince of Olympus, he takes it upon himself to attempt to fix his dysfunctional family. He is frequently indulged and welcomed as one of the few innocent souls on the great mountain. The problem is, Zagreus has no idea how to answer it, and even worse, he can only hear the prayer while he is on the surface where his body is actively dying by the second.

Two and a half years later, he finally arrives in New York City. Haunted by feelings of inadequacy, he's ready to give up pole vaulting and create a new life for himself as a photographer. However, the immigration process in the US is long and complicated, and there's no guarantee he'll even be accepted.

He’s only a few feet away when a shadow leaps down on him from above.
The ground beneath his feet erupts. His body is flung forwards, SMG falling from his hands. He flips over, lands on his back roughly, grunting as he does, his ribs screaming out in protest. He struggles for breath, writhes in agony. Above, there’s a flash of silver in the orange light; a blade, heading right for his face. With a yelp, he rolls over, scrambles away, fingers digging into the mud for purchase. He risks looking up and pales.

and a house out in the middle of nowhere where he could live without a care in the world.
