Summary
Arthur Morgan is fourteen years old when his father is killed in front of him in their small cabin in Maryland. With no one to turn to, he ventures into the wilderness by himself with only a few belongings, the clothes on his back, and very limited knowledge of how to survive. Then, when all seems lost, he's taken in by a pair of charitable bandits with silver tongues, sharp wits, and big dreams of taking down civilized society to bring America back to a purer state. Along the way, they find more wayward souls, building up a strong group that's the closest thing to family most of them will ever have.
A fairly canon-compliant interpretation of The Van der Linde Gang, mostly from Arthur's point of view, 1878-1899.
WARNING. There's some ugly topics in this fic every now and then. Mostly violence, a few mentions of some darker stuff, but probably never anything too overly graphic; though, there'll be trigger warnings before the start of the chapter. Even still, viewer discretion is advised.
Discontinued, probably for forever.

Summary
Arthur had been riding with Dutch and Hosea for near on four months now, and sure, he liked 'em well enough. But he just couldn't work them out.
He’d thought at first that they were brothers, before he’d overheard enough conversations to disprove that theory. He didn’t have any real basis for how brothers acted with each other, of course, but… They were just… just real comfortable with each other.
More comfortable than Arthur could imagine being with anyone who wasn’t family.
Not that he had a whole lot of experience on that count either…
Or, Arthur is more oblivious than Dutch and Hosea gave him credit for, but he gets there eventually.

Dutch didn’t respond at first, as though he hadn’t really heard. When Hosea’s words finally reached him, his head snapped around to look at him. He looked disbelieving, almost confused.
“What?” He clarified, quietly.
Hosea shrugged coyly, nerves creeping in suddenly that he forcibly had to shake off, as he offered Dutch his hand and repeated himself.“Dance with me.”

Summary
"Blackwater has suffered tremendous losses at the hands of a gang of ruthless criminals, all members of the highly dangerous Van Der Linde gang, also known as 'Dutch's Boys'. The robbery that started it all resulted in the loss of $150,000, the bank money was being held on a boat docked in the harbour with minimal security. Several criminals involved in the robbery are still at large, including Dutch Van Der Linde himself. Most notably, Arthur Morgan was shot dead on the ferry by a member of the Pinkerton Detective Agency, the organisation that put a stop to the terrible heist. Arthur Morgan was considered to be a highly ranking member of the Van Der Linde gang, already guilty of armed robbery, fraud, assault and several counts of murder. Unfortunately, the robbery resulted in one civilian casualty and the money stolen from the ferry has not yet been recovered, causing a frenzy among local law enforcement and Blackwater residents. Any news on the whereabouts of the Van Der Linde gang are to be reported immediately in exchange for a generous reward."
Arthur smirked as he read the newspaper clipping again, silently swearing to keep it for as long as he lived to disprove it.

This story follows the gang and includes events that happened pre-game. It was originally going to be a series of one-shots but grew into a character study of sorts. The gang has been through its fair share of heartbreak, but there was also a lot of good in the past.
