Summary
He’s never given much thought to how his body looks. It’s served its purpose well enough and occasionally to great effect, looming over enemies or collecting hungry touches in the dark. Now he’s hyperconscious of every change. The calluses on his hands have faded and his knee is quiet for once, only smarting when he gets up too fast. But the real difference is the soft places around his middle, his inner thighs, and skin around his hips. He’s not sure what to make of it.
Ed tries to figure out how he feels about his body post-piracy.

Summary
He hadn’t touched Stede much, the morning after the night before. He woke up in Stede’s arms and snuck away to bury Blackbeard at sea. Stede talked about their line of work over a tray of things that Ed had carefully assembled with his heart in his throat. It all sort of unraveled from there, he thinks. He’s touched Stede since then, but he’d also lost the person who had been by his side for most of his life, had stepped on land without knowing when he’d step off again, and told Stede he loved him. Pretty eventful few days. So now he just sits and looks, and lets his fingers sweep across Stede’s temple, his cheek. He’s kissed Stede since that morning, too, but it had felt huge and loud and urgent - plus it was kind of mid-battle, which did a lot for him in the moment but didn’t give him a chance to ease into it, to see where it took them. In some ways it’s more thrilling to sit across him in this shitty house with the candle burning low.
Truly just an entire fic of them making out in this shitty house.

Summary
Stede waits until Ed can hear him again before he voices his idea. Ed clings to him, and he cries, and Stede cries with him; he’s loud, and then he’s quieting, and then he’s softer, softer, until he’s just whimpering in Stede’s arms, catching his breath, the occasional shiver running through him, allowing Stede to hold him still tucked into his chest.
Then, Stede whispers to him, “Do you think he’d like to take breakfast with us?”
Ed’s body shifts, moving just enough that he can separate and lift his head. His eyes meet Stede’s, bloodshot, his brow furrowed.
“What?” Ed asks.
“Come on,” Stede says, and pulls Ed out of bed with him.

Summary
Stede is divorced, rebuilding a life in the UK and working at Jim's non-profit community centre. His 6-month stay is running out and, well, turns out a fake marriage is an option to stay, because tropes are fun. Ed's got his own shit going on, you'll find out more in later chapters, but he thinks a sham marriage to this weird guy is probably going to at least be a bit of a laugh. Will update weekly.

“No, no, absolutely not, Lucius, you didn’t tell me he looked like that!”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“Lucius!” Stede hisses. “He’s gorgeous, we are not doing this!”
Lucius is saying something but Stede honestly has no idea what it is because blood is pounding in his ears and the pub has almost entirely emptied and this night has very much gotten away from him and the most stunningly beautiful man has just walked in. And Stede has had four glasses of horrible wine and god, all that leather, and Christ almighty, look at his hair. His hair.

Summary
The problem with playing arenas is that, from the stage, every arena looks basically the same. Metal frameworky bits, lots of lights overhead, big screaming crowd of people, not much else to see. The people tend to scream pretty much the same stuff every night, too. It's all, “Woooo, Blackbeard!” and “Yeahhh, Blackbeard!” and “Play Stop Or I'll Make You Eat Your Toe!”
Over and over, all around the world, ad infinitum. If Blackbeard wasn’t a solo act, he would’ve broken up by now.
Ed misses the stuff that makes rock real. The passion. The rabble-rousing.
He’s got a couple of days between tours, and for once, just once, he wants to start a night without knowing how it'll end.

Summary
Edward Teach is a pop star about to embark on his latest tour when he develops vocal nodes. Stede Bonnet is the voice specialist who treats him. Sparks fly.
“Right. And could you please describe your singing voice to me? Or sing something you feel showcases your voice, if you feel comfortable. For my usual clientele, I’d suggest their go-to audition song, but I don’t get the sense that you do much auditioning.”
There’s a long pause during which Stede takes note of the guy’s eyes. Not a literal case note, that would be inappropriate. His eyes are large and brown and expressive, quicksand eyes. Eyes a person could get lost in. Right now, they’re slightly narrowed at Stede. He seems to decide something.
“Listen,” the client says. “I appreciate you not wanting to make it weird, but I promise I’m used to it.”
“Used to it?” Stede asks, and there go the eyes again. Stede has the oddest sense of being taken apart, exposed, like the recurring dream he has of walking through the halls of his secondary school without a single stitch of clothing on, down to the same vague, unsettling sense that it should be more awkward than it is.

Summary
Stede's a middle-aged businessman going through a divorce, and he desperately needs a drink. He ends up at Blackbeard's: a charming little bar (that's technically not a gay bar but kind of is a gay bar) with nautical décor, classic rock, excellent cocktails, and a very pretty bartender who wears crop tops and leather.
Soon Stede becomes a regular, and obviously he just likes going there because the cocktails are great.
Definitely no other reason.

Summary
He had only gotten ten or so pages in before he heard the chair opposite him at the table clatter as someone dropped into it. Confused, Stede began to set his book down only to find the book ripped from his hands, the person across from him holding it up in front of their face.
“Excuse me!” Stede frowned, reaching to get his book back. “I was reading that!”
“Yeah, yeah,” a gruff voice came from behind his book, leaning out of Stede’s reach. “Just go with it for a minute, yeah?”
“I will not!” Stede huffed, leaning forward again. “You can’t just appear out of nowhere and take books out of people’s hands! Were you raised in a barn?!”
The book lowered slightly and Stede was taken aback by the big chocolate eyes that gazed across from him. They seemed kind, which was directly in opposition to the whole book thief thing.
“I promise you, I will give this back very soon. I just need to borrow it for…” his eyes glanced out the window, then back at Stede “...a few more minutes.”

Summary
The rest of the band should relax, okay? He was not unconcerned about the fact that Stede Bonnet - the “poor man’s Elton John,” as one particularly nasty critic called him - covered some B-side The Scalawags wrote more than a decade ago. (He was very, very concerned, actually. He was very concerned because the first time he heard it was two weeks ago and he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about it since.)
When Stede Bonnet releases a chart topping cover of an old Scalawags song, Ed is more taken with it than he'd like to admit. After Calico Jack starts twitter drama over the "destruction of real music," Ed finds himself in the unusual position of having to apologize to Stede in person.
He's fine. His palms aren't sweaty. He's super cool and he can do this.

Summary
Ed is an engineer aboard the Revenge, an interplanetary research vessel on a multi-year mission to study Jupiter's moon Europa. An accident requires that Ed awaken from cryostasis over six months early, and finds his only companion to be Stede, the ship's onboard AI. They develop an unconventional friendship, but is it possible to have more?
This is classic mutual pining with a sci-fi twist, inspired by all of my favorite stories about the nature of personhood.
-----
“You–” Ed was struggling to parse what Stede was saying. “You’re playing your version of this song for me, right now? Like, in real time?”“Yes, Edward, that’s correct,” said Stede softly.
Ed’s brain momentarily seized up. He supposed it made sense that Stede was capable of learning a set of rules to do something like arrange and play a piece of music. There was something unnerving about this song, though. It felt, well–it felt organic . Reactive. Almost collaborative in a way. Ed was lost in the push and pull of it, until the last notes softly petered out.
“So, what did you think?” asked Stede. It sounded nervous again. Why the hell would someone program an anxiety response into a bot?

Summary
Stede, a history professor specializing in the golden age of piracy, is fascinated when art professor Edward Teach joins his humble university’s faculty. Even more fascinating are the rumors that Ed is actually the famous, anonymous artist, Blackbeard. Stede falls a little bit in love. Then a lot.
Across the academic year, Stede tips headfirst into dizzying romance, mind-blowing sex, and happiness he couldn't have dreamed up if he'd tried. He learns lessons he never knew he needed, forcing him to reevaluate everything from his career goals to his relationships with his children. Ed is at the center of it all, teaching Stede at every turn exactly how wonderful life can be—and the startling speed with which fear and hesitation could snatch away his newfound love.
Eventually, the only thing that matters for them both is learning enough about love to stop it from slipping through their fingers.

Sailors call them watermarks. A gift from the sea, a name or symbol written on your chest, meant to guide you to your own true love.
But Stede Bonnet's mark doesn't look like anything at all. Not really. And it certainly doesn't look like 'Edward' or 'Teach' or 'Blackbeard' or a black beard and that's fine. Completely fine.
Ed's absolutely fine with it.

Summary
Ed picks Stede up at a bar for what ought to be a one-night stand, but it turns out they're attending the same academic conference the next day.
“Yes, please, a – Loose Cannon, did you say? Really, how charmingly nautical.” There. Words. Sub-optimal words, but words nonetheless. He grins, aiming it toward the stranger while taking him in in smaller doses. Leather boots, faded, artfully ripped black jeans, a purple cropped shirt under a silky, billowy black – kimono? Overshirt? Facial scruff. Lots of hair, salt and pepper, pepper only just winning out, for now. Tattooed knuckles, forearms, collarbone. Earring, silver stacking rings on most fingers, a nose stud that somehow softens the whole, well, lewk and – okay, he’s staring. He stares some more as the man reaches to accept his own drink, revealing more tattoos up the arm and an inch more of skin below the crop top. The stranger makes some obscure gesture to the bartender, then meets Stede’s eyes, which he worries might actually be protruding from his skull, like a cartoon. AwOOga.
