Summary
Noelle Holiday is entering her final year of High School. It's been four years since her sister's death. She's on her way to the fanciest college her parents can get her into, to get a degree in...something. Her father's in the hospital. She can't stop letting people talk over her. And finally, Noelle is hopelessly in love with another girl, and it's only a matter of time until her mother finds out.
Susie Sauria is entering her final year of High School. Susie knows that she's never going to be able to make anything of her life. She has one (1) friend, and is reasonably sure they'd ditch her if given the chance. She's teetering on the poverty line. Her father's a jackass. She wants to move out, but that would require her to have a place to go afterwards. And finally, Susie is stuck getting tutored by the smartest girl in her class, and it's only a matter of time until that too falls apart.
At the moment, they couldn't be more different. But through heartache and hardship, they'll find themselves inexorably drawn together. A lot can happen in one school year, and this is one that they're sure to never forget.

The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.

[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]
