The light flips on overhead. Wade’s stare is drawn to it, much like a moth, and when he refocuses on what’s in front of him it almost slaps him in the fucking face (literally).

Most folks that passed through Laughlin’s nameless watering hole were an easy read. Bored, hungry, lonely, nobody set foot in a place like this without reason. Money was Logan’s, and why he was still here three nights past the none he’d planned on.
This big guy here, equal parts muscle and fat getting up from the benches to the crowd’s raucous approval, he had something to prove. Chip on his shoulder the size of his shiny bald head. The one in the shadows, he’d taken Logan’s measure a long while back but far as Logan could tell, hadn’t laid a single bet. Didn’t look inclined to take him on, either. Seemed a hell of a lot of attention to pay somebody without a mind to do something about it.
Chewing overlong on some stranger’s intent earned Logan a boot to the back of his knee and a slow spreading smile from the cause. The off-centre kick that followed drove him into rusty rattling metal. He hit the floor with a grunt. Served him right for getting too curious.

Summary
Logan, despite working with Victor Creed for the past five years, wouldn’t necessarily say that the man was his partner.
They did all their merc jobs together, yes, and planned their lives accordingly around that, yes, but also Logan has the vague idea that if he were to call Victor Creed his partner, the man would be insufferable.
That isn’t to say Logan didn’t like being with Victor; both working the jobs, and then drinking afterwards. He very much did. It’s one of the few sublime pleasures of his life, those dark nights with Creed in a rowdy tavern, heads pressed close so they could hear the other, knees hitting.
Sometimes, if they drink enough, they get a room. Nothing of note happens when they do that, or at least that’s what Logan pretends in the daytime. What does happen is one of them will pull the other to their chest in bed, back to front, and whisper in the other’s ear as they masturbate together. They don’t touch each other when they do this, nothing beyond a hand to a chest to hold them closer, or a forehead pressed into the back of a head. They finish together, lay together, and wake up as if nothing happened.
So, yeah, Logan wouldn't necessarily call Creed his partner.
