Satoru sits up, tilting his head. He doesn't say anything, but Megumi knows hes asking for more.
"She...she started talking about parents, she--uh, she said that adoptive parents aren't real parents."
Megumi watches as Satoru's eyes glaze over a little, before shifting to Megumi's desk where a single photo sits propped up in a simple black frame. The day Satoru had officially adopted them. November 8th, 2015. Two years ago. Megumi had been eleven, Tsumiki twelve. Satoru looked like he was the happiest man alive, standing behind them, adoption papers in one hand and the other raised in the air.
Megumi's 98% sure it's the only picture he has where he's genuinely smiling. Tsumiki's beam was enough for the both of them though. They'd dressed in their finest clothes for the court, and Tsumiki had even brought a comb to Megumi and Satoru's unruly hair. Either way, it was the day that sealed Satoru as their adoptive father, primary caretaker. It was what made all the effort and tears worth it.
Or, Megumi has some trouble with school.

He parks next to a number of cheap sedans that must belong to underpaid teachers. With a few simple directions from the front office, which gives him side eye for his past dismissiveness of Megumi’s antics, he finds the propped open door with a red cross on its front. He knocks as he steps inside.
“Mr. Gojo?” The nurse looks up from her game of solitaire. Megumi’s sitting tensely in a chair positioned near her desk in a way that says she wants to keep an eye on him. He’s staring intensely at his lap, gripping the fabric of his pants so hard his knuckles are white. His elbows are locked straight, like they’re fighting the hunched shoulders trying to curl him in on himself. He’s pale, quivering minutely.
“Yeah, yeah,” Gojo vaguely acknowledges her as he rounds the few cots intended for the students Judgy Jane decides are actually ill. He ruffles Megumi’s hair. “You feel like getting out of here?”
No response. He doesn’t even look up, just inhales with a quiet sniff.

Eyes? Megumi turns to look at Satoru, squinting at his face.
“Ah,” Satoru says quietly, smiling as he reaches up to touch the tips of his fingers right under his left eye.
“They’re turning gray,” Nobara says. She puts her beer down, and so does Megumi, vaguely concerned. Yuji makes a little choked off sound.
“Holy shit, are you going blind?” Yuji barks, never one for subtlety. Megumi flinches, and Satoru laughs. He leans back in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest, pulling the soft white cardigan he’s wearing down over his wrists.
“That might happen. Doctors say there’s like a forty percent chance.”
Megumi stares at him, “Dad, what the fuck?”
