In her dreams, she leaves the circus. In her dreams, she doesn’t slur her words or feel guilty about who she’s left behind. In her dreams, Ragatha gets what she wants. She runs and runs and runs out into the night, as free as her horses, running until the ground disappears beneath her feet and it's the circus that’s in front of her, opening its gaping jaws to swallow her whole. It’s the one social dogma Caine established at this place: Ragatha is eaten but never eats. Before she would wake up shivering and cold; angry.

They enable their worst habits, hurt everyone around them, and can’t go a month without blowing up at each other. Their communication is terrible, their coping skills minimal, and their ‘solutions’ never actually fix or address anything close to the problem.
They are, by any and all definitions, extremely toxic.
But, really, none of that matters, because they’re gonna make it work no matter who or what they need to sacrifice to get there in the end. They’re not worth the effort? Says who? Not really for anybody else to decide, now is it?
Being alone is bad enough.
Being alone without the one person who really gets you, for better or mostly worse?
