Summary
Jacob Carter has died, and Anubis has been neutralized. Teal'c and Bra'tac have begun the daunting task of organizing the new Jaffa government. With Daniel back on Earth and the galaxy in an uneasy peace, Jack retreats to his house for some down time. Trouble is--General Hammond figures it's time for a talk. And later, after the General leaves, Jack's surprised by another visitor. One with golden hair and haunted blue eyes. They both have things they need to say, and things they need to hear. Canon compliant, in character attempt at a realistic development of the Sam/Jack relationship seasons 1-8. Missing moments and deleted scenes to address some of the unanswered questions we all have with an emphasis on in character communication, or lack thereof. M for season 8 only. T version available.
“Somebody told me that it was good to remember.” He was looking down at her now instead of at Charlie. Sam wasn’t sure what she was feeling, only that she was feeling a lot of it. Did he mean that he had done this because of her?
“Yeah, I think it is,” she answered him, looking back to Charlie.
“Thanks,” he whispered. Was this what it had been like before they had become strictly co-workers? She didn’t think so. She remembered a lot of flirting and teasing—a lot of fun. She didn’t remember anything so heavy. Maybe this was better, after all. She missed the flirting, but maybe this was what he actually needed. Maybe he needed the things that were hard for him instead of the things that were second nature. Maybe she was selfish to want both, but hey, a girl could dream.

Summary
Life isn’t all paperwork and briefings—at least not for Sam and Jack O’Neill. Between juggling promotions, cross-country flights and a dog (and a cat) with too much personality the O’Neills are learning that love can be just as much of a mission as saving the galaxy.
Add in a few friends, more than a few family surprises, and Jack’s endless supply of sarcasm, and suddenly everyday life becomes its own kind of adventure.
A domestic AU full of fluff, family, and the little moments that make a life together worth fighting for.

Sam gets a surprise visit. I really wanted this to be at least a little angsty, but they weren't having anything to do with my plans.
“Wear whatever you want, Sam,” he instructed roughly. “I won’t be looking at the dress.”
Sam inhaled, attempting to draw breath back into her lungs. Jack wasn’t a romantic kind of guy. After witnessing eight years of his practical, logical approach to the world, she had gone into their relationship with her eyes wide open. But sometimes, his rough, direct approach did more for her than any sonnet ever could. It was him, and for better or worse, he was who she wanted, roughness and all.

Summary
After a mission gone wrong, Sam makes a personal sacrifice to save Jack and the whole team. Now, back on Earth, the weight of that decision threatens to break her. Jack stays by her side as she finally confides in Janet and begins trauma therapy - taking the first fragile steps towards healing. But when normal life becomes too much to bear, Jack offers her refuge at his cabin in the wilderness, giving her the room to breathe she desperately needs. There, away from the world, their special bond is tested and deepened as they navigate the long road to recovery together.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I originally planned this with the rating “teen and up audiences” all the way through, but Sam and Jack had other ideas - the story took a turn, and here I am, bumping it to “explicit”. No worries though: the spicy stuff is exclusively in chapters 14 & 15. Thanks for rolling with it!
