“Hey, yous,” Ted steps through the threshold. “So, hey, when I said I could come pick you up for whatever, whenever, if you’d just dared to live a little, I didn’t mean at the ass crack of dawn on a goddamn Wednesday while I’m hungover, Petey.”
“What the fuck did you just say?” Officer Bailey interrupts.
“Oh, nothing, sir, all classy law-abiding topics of conversation here,” Ted says. “Hey, Petey, at least tell me you’re wasted off your ass and that this was all worth it.”
“I’m not,” Peter says, voice hoarse.
“Fucking useless.”

They’d mourn Grace Chasity despite half of her name being a lie, and they’d bury her under a little cross-marked gravestone, unknowing that heaven wasn’t where she’d arrived.
But it would be better.
If she was dead, none of this would have happened.
Everything would be better.
They’d all be better.
She just had to…Her eyes locked on the gun laying just a little ways ahead of her.
A sort of peace flooded through her. An acceptance, as she understood what she had to do.
She wouldn’t die for the world’s sins the way His son had, but maybe she could die for her own.~~~~~~~
After the events of NPMD, Grace can’t see a future for herself. Maybe she just needs help finding it.

Hatchetfield Pride is today, and it’s Max’s first time going. Richie seems to be more excited about this than Max. For Richie, it’s an opportunity to show Max everything he missed while he was closeted. For Max, it feels more like prying eyes.
Grace slams her shaking hands down on the disinfected marble counters, pressing down hard and hoping the trembling will stop. It doesn’t. She tries to remind herself that she has everything under control. It doesn’t help.
