Summary
Bucky slides his hand up Sam’s arm, reaches his shoulder, squeezes it, takes a step closer to him, says, “Sam, whatever it is, it’s just me.”
Sam sighs, then nods, asks, “Would it be okay if we stayed together tonight?”
“Of course.” Bucky’s not sure why Sam has been so cagey about asking for that. They’ve spent many a night together, sleepless on the couch because Bucky’s insomnia is bad or because one of them has had a nightmare. “You wanna watch something?” Bucky asks, because sometimes Sam likes the TV on, something to focus on, though that hasn’t seemed to be working for him this evening, and sometimes he wants to sit with his thoughts, quiet but not alone, and occasionally he needs to share them.
“No,” he says. “I’m tired. I want to go to bed. I just…”
And Bucky gets it, what Sam wants, why he didn’t want to ask. Because this is a little different than their usual. Though really not all that dissimilar to the times they’ve eventually fallen asleep together on the couch. “You don’t want to be alone?”

Summary
