It jumps up and down, confirming, and she laughs, something that has always reminded Ash a bit of windchimes. Like the windchimes she used to always have in the garden, which he would close his eyes and listen to for hours sometimes, when he was very small, until she’d find him under the tomato bushes and take him inside and clean off his scrapes that always healed faster than they should.
She doesn’t even need a battle. She just throws a pokeball at it and it jumps up to meet it, and the ball rocks only once before confirming the catch.
Or: Delia and Ash, catching pokemon as spring arrives.

Summary
“Snow!” he yells, his voice so loud it makes some nearby pidgey flutter out of a tree. He lowers his voice and says “Sorry!” to them. Their ruffled feathers give a distinct sense of disapproval. “Ash,” he whisper-yells. “Snow, it’s snow!”
Ash has that big smile that always warms him up whenever he sees it. He doesn’t have a lot of memories from when he was really little, but he’s got this feeling - and maybe it’s more of a dream than a memory, but when he thinks back to the first thing he can remember, a fuzzy image of Ash’s smile comes up. He thinks, based on the stories he’s been told, it’s from the very first time they met. The colors feel a bit like watercolor, like paint that’s been smeared. But when he sees Ash smile like he is right now, that’s what he thinks of.
Or: A ten-year-old Lei sees snow for the first time.

Ash thinks of the little white pill he takes every night. He thinks about how Brock sat him down two years into their journey and showed him a handful of pills. “I take these every night,” he’d said, looking at Ash. “What are they?” he’d responded.
“They’re for a few things. But back when I was your age I used to start getting these episodes. Anxious all the time, you know, taking care of all my siblings. But sad, too. And then I started taking these, and they helped. They still do.”
Ash had nodded carefully. “Wow, Brocko. I had no idea. Thanks for telling me. Don’t get me wrong, but why?”
Brock had smiled at Ash, a little sadly, and he’d felt like his friend could see straight through to his soul. “We’ve been traveling together for a while. And I think I noticed it the very first day we started, you know? There was something about you. And I just think it might help.”

Other than that, you can all leave me the hell alone.” He turns and the bedroom door slams.
“Is that right,” Tony tells the closed door, setting his hands on his hips. “Oh, we’ll see about that.”
