Summary
Remus has spent years in hospital, he's had what were supposed to be the best years of his life stolen from him. This time, he's not sure if he can waste it. If he's dying, he doesn't want to suffer until there's nothing left to give. He wants to achieve something, or see the world. Maybe, get into crippling debt doing things he enjoys because he doesn't care anymore. He doesn't care.
The Hallows have reached stardom. With a World Tour on the horizon and an album weeks from releasing, they're close to everything they have ever dreamed of. Except, Sirius can't let go of the past, and it's close to ruining him.
(This is the rewrite, my apologies, it's gonna be like 1000000% better trust) (also forget literally everything I wrote in the first attempt yayyy )

Lily finally spoke up. “What’s your name?”
“Remus,” the stranger answered quietly. He had a soft, careful sort of voice. He didn’t turn to face Lily, but he did catch her eye in the rear-view mirror. His eyes were soft too, the color of chocolate.
James laughed. “Yeah. You’re a wizard, alright. Where to, Remus?”
“I’m not sure actually,” Remus said gently. He glanced back at Harry’s carrier, and though he couldn’t see the baby inside it, frowned. “I’m looking for someone, heard he lives in this neighborhood. His name’s Sirius Black.”

One too many close calls lead James and Lily to cut ties with the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War, taking their infant son with them. Several months later, the Potters come across a bloody, disheveled man lying on the side of the road. A man they've never met before.

He’s made of starlight, silver eyes burning in the dim light of the alleyway, white skin luminescent and almost glowing from within, fangs flashing as he licks his lips.
Their eyes meet, and the entire universe shifts on its axis, everything around them fading away into nothingness. His lungs feel frozen, those silver eyes staring into his very soul, and he’s never felt so terribly seen. He finally manages to gasp in a shallow breath, lungs filling with the scent of vampire, and instead of the usual panic and rage that accompanies it all he feels is a sense of peace.

"Sirius." There's this voice that Remus uses sometimes that makes Sirius feel like he's in trouble with the teacher that, most times, zips him up better than anything else. He purses his lips, irritated, and scowls at Remus from under his eyebrows. "You see with your own eyes that I'm in one piece," Remus continues, and waits until Sirius, reluctantly, minutely, nods before carrying on. "You did everything right, I promise. It would have been far worse without you there. Okay? And even worse than that if you'd had your head cracked in two."
Sirius sighs and nods again, but finds his eyes trailing down to the bruise on Remus's thigh, looking dark and painful in the dim light coming from the small overhead lamp above the stove. The fight gone out of him, his anger is impotent and grating, an itching agita at the back of his mind looking for somewhere else to go.

Remus lives a lonely, exhausting life working any job he can find and never staying put for more than a few months at a time. When he takes a week-long position at the Black & Sons sheep farm to help out during lambing season, he ends up finding a kindred spirit in the farmer's son. But he has to leave when the week is up, and that might just be his undoing.
