Summary
Omegaverse writers sure do love tagging intersex on their works even though clearly none of them actually understand what being intersex is. For a start, it isn't having both a penis and vagina. So I have decided to figure out how intersex variations actually could or would work in the omegaverse, in the hopes that maybe if I do, people will write about intersex A/B/O characters.

Not mpreg, dwarven gender is just complicated. Contains two branches: "No Heir of Durin", which is canon compliant as much as such a 'verse can be (the only adjustments are timeline and genetics, expect feels), and "An Heir of Durin", a forthcoming fic which explores an Everyone Lives AU version of this premise. In between we have "Heirs and Spares", which takes place in either or both 'verses. Simple enough?- Words:

This was Statecraft, and that meant paperwork."
What with King Thorin II and his heirs surviving and Erebor thriving, Lord Balin is far too busy negotiating contracts, moderating interspecies disputes, and dispensing well-considered advice to a variety of hotheaded Durins and stubborn dwarrows to mount a Balrog-fated expedition to Moria.
Unfortunately, he's also too overworked to do much of anything else, until librarian/scribe Eilifr arrives one day to deliver some research—and ends up taking charge of Balin's schedule, organizing his paperwork, and even running interference with an unexpected and unwelcome invasion of opportunistic suitors.
Some of whom seem to be taking a dangerous sort of interest in his Mahal-sent jewel of an assistant . . .
