"Now, I know you’ll resist," Mike blurts out, stepping toward him. "But I think this will be good. For both of us! For when we... you know,” Mike trails off, “When we get partners.”
Will scoffs, stepping closer to inspect the titles.
Spill or Sip and Truth, Dare, or Strip.
Or: Mike suggests a spicy card game to help Will loosen up before college. It works a little too well, and suddenly they’re gambling with unresolved feelings, and clothes, that were meant to stay in place.

Mike thinks it all started the day the Byers moved into their house.
Having sold their house in Hawkins a year and a half prior and moved to California, when they came back, and the town got put in lockdown, they didn’t have a place to go.
Mike had kindly offered up their place during dinner.

The 18-month gap between s4 and s5 told from Mike's POV with minor other POV's as the story progresses. The gap has been lengthened to encapsulate more time passing. They start at 16, but by chapter 6 they're 17 1/2 with them turning 18 chapter 32/34.

Despite himself, Mike laughed out loud, cherishing the taunting.
It was going to be fine. If he could have this Will by his side again, he could take other men having their way with him a thin wall away from Mike. Couldn't he?

Noah can feel the cold stillness weighing down on him as the incessant chatter outside his bedroom cuts through the short-lived silence. He might have chosen rest, but rest did not choose him. It rarely ever does. He nestles under the pile of blankets, clutching them closer, savoring the final threads of warmth and safety for a few minutes before finally bracing himself for the stretch of hours to come. He kicks off the bed, tucks himself into his robe and starts to make his way to the bathroom, stopping a step short of reaching it.
CONFIDENTIAL.
The capitalized red ink stares back up at him, silently screaming for his attention. Calling to be seen. Taunting him. Finn’s words reverberate in his mind.
OR
Finn can no longer outrun his reality, leaving Noah no choice but to finally confront his fears.

In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.
So, they get a little high. Mike is very normal about all of it.
