Aziraphale has established himself well as a recent inhabitant of Venice. He has a regular job as a gondoliere — troubles with tourists aside — a flat with a fairly nice view, and more importantly, he's finally gotten the hang of the city's layout (for the most part).
There are very few things that could disrupt his routine.Except maybe running over a sea serpent with a gondola. That might do it.

One drunken evening, Aziraphale is determined to convince Crowley that human clothing is superior to miracled clothes. Crowley reluctantly agrees to try on real garments, and when Aziraphale glimpses a half-naked demon, temptations (and so many waistcoat buttons) lead to a passionate night.
The corner of Crowley’s mouth lifts slightly. He tugs the fabric at his waist and slips the shirt up his back and over his head with a shimmering hiss of silk across his skin. He tosses the shirt onto the chair and stands in the room, one hip cocked, his torso bare.
“What now, angel?” Crowley asks, his voice low.

Aziraphale has been back for a year. Heaven was … not what he expected, and it only took him three years to realise it. Three years in which he had no contact with Crowley. Three years in which he really had time to realise how much he missed him. How much he cherished him. Loved him. Wanted him.
He’d felt the ghost of Crowley’s lips against his every day since leaving, and when he finally made his way back, he knew it wouldn’t be possible to return to that exact moment. He knew he needed to work to regain his trust. His affection.
He hadn’t known how long it would take though, and how utterly distant the demon would seem.

He’d been an angel once. He remembered it, distantly but clearly. The things angels could do, with other angels, and by themselves too. They way they could... twist their energies around, vibrate at certain frequencies, oscillate and arc with celestial ecstasy. He remembered too, that exchanging feathers had become quite a thing, for a while, between consenting angels who might be sent off to opposite sides of the galaxy for a time. A little token, a memento. But more importantly, a connection. Because just as an occult feather had powers, there were certain things you could do with feathers from an ethereal wing. And though demons didn’t go in for trading love tokens, their feathers too held the same potential, the same essential connection.
What Crowley didn’t understand was why Aziraphale had done it with his feather. Or rather, he did understand, theoretically, but the actual implications of it refused to come into focus.
