“The usual, too.” Giyuu said, parroting her words. Satisfied, Shinobu turned on her heel, haori flying out behind her as she ventured deeper into the mansion, looking for the requested goods.
“Oh, so it's a usual thing, huh?” Sanemi snarled, looking at Giyuu out of the corner of his eye, crossing his arms as he did so. Giyuu barely reacted, but Sanemi noticed his brow set in a firm line, and the corners of his mouth quirk downwards.
“You’re being very vitriolic.”
“Oh, fuck off. ‘Vitriolic’? What are you, a novelist?”
“No. I’m a hashira.”

“I just wonder how long it took for you to get as good as you are.” Reki replied, shrugging, looking away from Kaoru’s face. Kaoru was thankful, he could feel Reki’s eyes boring holes in his own, he had been avoiding eye contact for so long. It was a relief to have those eyes off him for a moment.
“It took time. There were… how should I put this?” He paused, pondering. He chose his words very carefully. “There were a few setbacks.” He decided. He shook his head, shaking away the memories that flooded him. Now was not the time, nor the place for it.
“What kind?” Reki asked, pressing on.
“Injuries. Standard stuff.” Kaoru lied, shrugging easily. He didn’t like lying, he thought it was a waste of time and energy. But he needed to. He wouldn’t speak about this, not with Reki. Not here. -
