“Well.” That’s a very good question. “I’m not really sure to be honest, I haven't liked many people that way.” Just the one. “And that was a long time ago.”
Shinsou nods, face lost in thought. “Okay but when you did, how did you know you just didn’t like them as a friend? How did you know it was more?”
“I guess…” Aizawa exhales, he really despises remembering. “When you like someone, you feel like you want to be closer to them in every way, closer than anybody else. You want them to need you as much as you need them, but you know they’re not just a friend because you want to hold their hand and know what it feels like to kiss them.”
It’s too late to stop the images flooding his mind now, Yamada’s wedding day on a loop in his mind.
“Mmh, I see…”
Aizawa takes off his glasses, tosses them on his desk and digs the heels of his palms in his eyes until he sees white spots dancing over his vision instead of the smile Hizashi had on his face when he said I do.

"Oh- oh, my god!" Jirou gasped, still laughing as she covered her mouth with her hands. "You didn't think I was serious, did you?"
Denki felt his chest tighten and heart drop painfully as his currently inhibited brain made the connection, hands relaxing and arms falling to his side, the hopeful gleam in his eyes replaced with a guarded wariness. His lips turned down at the corners, fighting the forced smile still plastered on his face.
"Uh, no, of course not. I mean, who'd… who'd wanna date me, right?"

They don’t notice when he starts pulling away.
Or when he stops hanging around them, and slowly stops speaking.
No one notices, the mask too clean or the minds too oblivious.
But as second year starts, and Denki continues to spiral, Class 2A is re-introduced to its official new member, Shinsou.Who does.

One night in November of 1983, a boy goes missing from Hawkins, Indiana.
He is just a body, a thick cuff locked around his ankle, chained with iron to a bolt on the hardwood floor. He is just a body, locked inside of a bedroom with an empty closet, a bed, a nightstand, and a cage. He doesn’t look at the cage if he can help it. He looks outside. He is just a body, staring out at a backyard he’s never been allowed to enter, where the grass is starting to brown from the heat of the sun. All he can see is dusty grass and tall trees, and a little shed at what must mark the edge of the property.
Only there is a body. Another body. A real human body—only, that can’t be right. Steve hasn’t seen anyone in … he doesn’t know how long it’s been, since the blonde man took him here. The blonde man doesn’t want him to see anyone, to be seen by anyone. All he wants is for Steve to be his, and to turn Steve into a body.
The other body is in the yard, moving on clever legs with slow graceful steps. His head swivels from side to side quickly as if he is looking for something. It makes his long curls sweep across his shoulders.
