Summary
Ochako had always been taught not to feed strays.
Her family hardly had enough food to feed themselves, let alone any wild pet that wandered by. Still, she couldn’t help herself. Sometimes, they’d simply take her gift and run, but others, they’d give her a moment of their time. Her mother had always said that that was the most dangerous part.
These creatures were feral, misfits of the urban. There was a reason no one had taken them in, she’d say. If she stepped too close, stood too tall, overstayed her welcome, they could bite. They would bite. It was dangerous.
Ochako didn’t doubt her mother, how could she? But she didn’t exactly believe her either. After all, not a single one had ever so much as growled at her. But after the autumn of her final year of middle school, Ochako came to understand her mother’s warnings. Worse, she understood just how lucky she’d gotten after ignoring them for so long.

Summary

Quirkless and having failed the hero entrance exam, Izuku is confined to the support course. It's a good fit for him, but he can't abandon his dreams. All Might was right, however, he can't be a hero without a quirk. He is left with only one recourse. The fates, though, are not so kind. Izuku's experiment is a world-shattering success and a soul-shaking failure. Forced to live with the consequences, he spirals further into madness. And the only person who can pull him out of it is himself.
What fortune then, that there are two of him.

Summary
Riddled with guilt at her inaction at Kamino and tormented by memories of the Training Camp, Ochako feels a burning need to change. She throws herself into her training, eye on the upcoming Provisional License Exams and heedless of the consequences. A chance encounter with the source of her nightmares only serves to push her closer to the edge.
As she crawls down the new path before her, Ochako digs deeper into the mystery of Toga Himiko, only to find herself entangled in a web of criminal conspiracy, people in need, and monsters that would love nothing more than to eat her alive. The line between friend and foe is thin when you're in love.
Has she bitten off more than she can chew? Only God knows.

He'll have to decide what to make of the broken dreams and shattered faith of an indifferent world. He'll need the power to rise above the mire and muck of despair.
Thankfully, he was never quirkless.
Sometimes quirks hide until they are triggered. Izuku tasted death and found it lacking, every flavour bitter and lacking spice. In the moments between death and life, he gazed into the howling abyss and it followed him home. Everything he thought he knew about the world is a lie. There are monsters lurking in the dark below, always waiting and always watching.
They wait patiently, waiting for one to sit upon a throne of crystal madness and eternal suffering. They have waited for aeons and will wait until the end of eternity.
They wait for Izuku Midoriya.

to me, this is THE quintessential mha longfic. i could talk about it forever and am sorely tempted to, but i will resist. i'm not one to put published traditional fiction over fanfiction, but this is the kinda story that makes me wish it wasn't fanfiction, if only so i would have more people to talk about it with, more fanart to look at, and so the creator could be paid a gazillion dollars for it. it goes truly above and beyond anything the canon does. it has a rich and fascinating mythology, sensible and endlessly detailed worldbuilding, some of the most gut-wrenching scenes i've ever read, simply impressive (eldritch) horror, and the most exciting conflicts and character arcs in history. tokoyami's storyline in particular is one i could only ever dream of writing myself. it has been years since i read it and i still remember exactly how i pictured many of the scenes looking in my head. one of the chapters gave me nightmares. if somebody were to read only a single fanfiction in their entire life, i would make sure it's this one.

He changes a few characters, and hits enter.

Giddy with apprehension, he quickly scans the article previews that pop up. The first holds nothing of value—it seems to be more of a parent guide than an explanation for what he's feeling. The second result recommends looking up what it means to be ‘transgender’. He’s heard the term before, but only in passing. He searches it.
The first result shows an image to the right. A blue stripe, a pink stripe, a white stripe, another pink, and another blue. The ‘trans flag’, says the image description.
“Oh,” says Izuku, breathes it out like it’s heaven-sent, because he’s found it.
He’s found it.

i used to thing this was some niche hidden gem no one else had found. i then recently realised it has 1.5 million hits lol. such a gripping cross-over story, allowing you to enjoy the full scope of the characters and plot without needing to know anything about the other media sources. the action scenes are some of the most exciting i've ever read, and i love how much love momo and jirou get in this

An Arcana Swap AU with Haru as the Fool/Trickster because while replaying Strikers I remember how much I love her bodying Zenkichi early on about cops.

i genuinely don't know how to summarise my thoughts on this story, it's just... perfect. respectful to canon without being afraid to do its own thing. slowburn character and relationship development that's satisfying every step of the way. evocative descriptions and imagery. nuanced and authentic-sounding dialgoue. simultaneous harmony and discord between varied and distinct characters, making their own lives feel real outside of how they interact with the protagonist. a gripping plot. an interesting magic system. great social commentary backed by potent emotion. it's just perfect
