If it would help them or hurt them; but tonight it is quiet and calm, and he will not find out which of the two reactions would come to fruition. He would not ruin this nearly perfect night, would instead cherish it and hold it close on the nights where he wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch the mage.

Summary
They're on a stolen gondola on Treviso's canals around midnight. A calm Lucanis guided the boat while a delighted Rook laid on their side at the edge, their hand gliding the water and leaving palm sized snowflakes whenever their fingers grazed the water. Lucanis watches with a soft smile, guiding the gondola through the darkened waters, leading them to an old spot he used to frequent as a teenager. The gondola had plush cushions in its cabin, placed perfectly for the mage to be able to lay comfortable against the edge of the boat.

Tali trails the tip of a finger around the rim of her cup. “She seems to have taken a shine to you,” she forces out, not liking how bitter the words taste on her tongue.
“I…what?” He sounds so baffled by her observation that she cannot help but glance up at him. “A shine…?” he trails off, perplexed, mug held between his hands.
