Izuku Midoriya had given up, abandoned by society, family, friend, educators, peers and when the last beacon of hope; the Number One hero of Japan told him to give up. It was all to much for him, the last bit of resolve broke. In a society where the measure of a person begins with their quirk how does one measure a quirkless boy with a dream of being a hero.
There upon the rooftop he made his decision to follow the advice of his most prominent tormentor. “Take a swan dive off the roof and hope for a quirk in the next life.” There on the ledge of the building he was left on he closed his eyes and let it all go.
The Phoenix Force had other plans, it had burned this world over 20 times before and was ready to do so again, then it saw him fall. It would give him another chance, a chance to be a hero and change the world. To guide it to a new era, to push it further instead of the stagnant cesspool it had become.
He would die, consumed by the fires of the Phoenix to be reborn, given the power to change the world. And change the world he must, either that or burn it all down to start again.

Suddenly waking up in someone else's body is quite a shocking experience. Bouncing back and forth between his life in modern times, and his new life, during the dawn of quirks, Izuku finds eerily similar circumstances. The MLA is making moves, and they are done trying to hide it. The Freedom Fights for Meta-Ability users have begun. Fighting in two separate wars, in two different centuries, Izuku finds himself unsure of which version is really him.

Also known as "Midoriya Izuku becomes the one and only Sidereal Exalted and nearly suffers an aneurysm trying to understand what that even means." He's really lucky that the Constellation of the Mask never broke in MHA's universe.
For the curious: Exalted is a Tabletop RPG (think D&D) where you play one of the titular Exalted, demigods chosen by all manners of great divinities, capable of killing the unkillable, seducing eldritch manifestations of chaos, and turning the concept of cyclical time into a martial art style right out of Kill Six Billion Demons. The Sidereal Exalted, specifically, are the agents of the goddesses of Journeys, Serenity, Battles, Secrets and Endings.
No prior knowledge of Exalted required!

Nothing to fight for, a reason to continue, or even a person to love.. for Izuku, he believed there was only one thing left for him to do.
