Summary
Shane Hollander is not a small fucking guy; he is all muscle, with big, calloused hockey-player hands and eyes nearly pretty enough to disguise the violence hidden in breadth of his shoulders.
Alexei is impressed.
Not a bad get, for someone fished out of a pool of hockey men who look like thumbs, their noses like squashed tomatoes and ears like boat sails. If it could not be beautiful, nosy bitch Svetlana, if it has to be a man, if it has to be a hockey player, then rich as God Shane Hollander isn’t the worst Ilyusha could have pulled.

Summary
Shane was fourteen the first time a number felt like safety.
The nutritionist worked out of an office in Kanata, framed certificates, a calm voice, laminated charts with columns. She explained it simply: fuel in, output required, timing of each. She said it was a starting point.
Shane took notes in the margins the way he took notes on everything—completely, past what was required. Yuna had found the nutritionist herself, sat beside him, and took notes too.
Like mother, like son.

Welcome to Patins et Rondelle! This is a special episode of the podcast because it’s an edited down version of my now famous livestream from last weekend's video leak and charity fundraiser. I have trimmed out the fat for pacing and cut out all the copyrighted material so it won’t get immediately taken down but will still allow you to relive the four hour journey we all went on after Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov were caught making out in the background of a Hayden Pike FanMail video.

Summary
"I don't mean to come here and freak you out," Scott said, though he knew there was no avoiding it. He'd been where they were before. It had felt like he was dying, back then. "I just don't want you to think you're the only ones, okay? There's lots of us."
Their eyes snapped to him in unison, startled and intense. Hollander croaked, "What?"
"There's over sixteen hundred guys in the MLH and AHL," he reminded them, because it had felt improbable to him when he first heard until he remembered the sheer size of the hockey world. "There's — well, we don't know how many of us there are, but there's at least seventeen of us that know each other. Plus you two. We watch out for each other."
His eyes enormous, Hollander asked, "There's, what? A secret underground gay hockey network?"
Scott shrugged. "Yeah, basically."

Ilya and Shane find their way into The Tennis Club, a network of closeted hockey players that hook up - so long as everyone keeps it casual. Which is no problem! They can do casual, right?

Summary
Ilya has been thinking about his mother again. Not that he ever really stops but lately...Yes, lately he is thinking about Irina Rozanova but also about Irina Sokolova. About Irina before Alexei or Ilya. Before Grigori Rozanov. Irina Sokolova - the champion figure skater. The world championship title she won. The routine she developed and agonised over and perfected but never took to the Olympics.
And he has been doing something stupid. Something he absolutely should not be doing. But he is one year away from reaching an age his mother never got to see and he needs...something. He’s pretty sure it’s this particular something.
But Dr. Galina has been implying that perhaps it is only stupid in the way that falling in love with your arch-rival is stupid. So maybe he should just give up already and get on with it.

“Surprised?” Rozanov asks.
“There’s nothing – this is nothing,” Shane forces out.
“Soulmates is something,” Rozanov says.
“You know you should say Connected Person, not soulmate,” Shane says. “It’s old-fashioned and sugar-coating.”
Rozanov takes a drag of his cigarette and looks Shane up and down. “Sugar? You think is always sweet and fun?”
---
Shane and Ilya are soulmates. A lot of it is sweet, and some of it is hard.

There are probably easier ways to tell your career-long fuckbudy that now your immigration status is safe, you're angling for commitment—ways that don't include inducing a rage blackout and hoping for a ring in the aftermath. But Liliya Rozanova wants revenge for all the years of watching Shane Hollander's media coverage and pretending she doesn't want that to be hers.

Summary
“Oh shit.”
Shane looked up, turned his head to where J.J. was sat across the aisle. The blue glow of his phone lit up the too-wide whites of his eyes staring down intently at whatever was on his screen. Shane’s stomach lurched again, anticipating a sudden stop his body hadn’t quite caught up to yet.
“The Centaurs’ plane crashed in Tampa.”
There was a moment where everything was still moving, where Shane and the world were still spinning at the same speed they both always had, and then it all came crashing down. Shane wasn’t sure whether it was him that had stopped, or the world around him, but either way, in a matter of seconds the distance between himself and the bus he had only a moment ago been sitting in became staggeringly, dizzyingly vast.
The Centaur's emergency landing plays out a little bit worse, and Shane is left with the harsh reality of the cost of loving Ilya in secret.

Summary
“Am I a bad friend?”
Hayden has always been the guy Shane joked with, the guy he trusted to feed him without mocking him, the guy he roomed with on the road, and Shane is the only man who has ever seen Hayden cry, and Hayden loves Shane. He fucking loves him. They are like brothers, and they have been for almost ten fucking years. He’s always been Shane’s guy, Shane’s best friend.
Except all along, maybe that wasn’t true. Ilya Rozanov, apparently, had been the guy. Before Hayden had ever met Shane, Ilya Rozanov had been there. And Hayden had never even noticed.
Shane is all over every inch of Hayden’s life. Hayden thought that was reciprocal.
