Summary
Vast Ashallow Cadere has lost four partners in as many years working for Obelisk, and all of them have been his fault. It's understandable, in a job as dangerous as his, working to restrain criminals in a world where abilities are as common for people to have as hearts and lungs. This time, he swears it'll be different- this time, he's not going to get attached, he's going to keep them alive and safe.
Rune Serpenhold Ventura is looking forward to his new work at the ECDC section of Obelisk, and more than anything, he's determined to do his best, both at his job and at getting his new, offstandish partner to open up. Unfortunately, his intentionally suppressed clairvoyance is beginning to resurface, and he's not liking what he's seeing in the sparks- and there's nothing he can do to change it.
Vast didn't want to add a fifth feather to the memorial inked into his back, and Rune didn't want to uncover a conspiracy to rock the system. Summary
It wasn't supposed to go this far. It was supposed to be simple and under the radar. The patrol turned into a confrontation, a confrontation turned into a fight, and the fight had witnesses, who called the pro heroes. And now, Sherbert was running from a pro hero, while they were dealing with a bleeding head wound.
The pro heroes were the big guys. Fabricator, Ares, and Psyche, were all insanely powerful. Most of them were trained from an early age to stand up for people who couldn't stand up for themselves. Only a few people were even allowed to become heroes, and those who were especially weren't powerless.
And that was Sherbert's problem; they were powerless.
OR:
A vigilante, who goes by no name other than one given to them, Alchemist; gets themselves wrapped up in a lot of pro-hero issues and drama.
