    “That’s not fair Ilya, it’s going to be complicated for me. I’m already the only Asian captain in the league! The media, sponsors, the Voyageurs? It’s going to need to be carefully managed-”

    After the Boxing Day fight, Ilya makes an impulsive decision and agrees to a trade to Vancouver, while Shane stays in Montreal and nurses his broken heart.     As the words left his mouth, he knew he'd gone too far.

    Shane's eyes snapped open only to narrow again as he glared up at Ilya.

    “Would you like that?”

    “No, I wouldn’t,” Shane snarled. 

    But his face was screwed up in frustrated pleasure. Ilya hummed thoughtfully and pretended to consider. 

    “Perhaps we could make it a competition then.” 

    Shane made an irritated noise and turned his face away. Ilya leaned closer and let his teeth drag down the length of Shane's clenched jaw.

    "You want Troy to see how well you take it, or do you want to see if he's better at riding my cock than you are?" 

    He had been teasing him, pushing at the jealousy that usually made Shane squirm and glare and tell him to shut the fuck up while his traitorous cock twitched and throbbed at how much he secretly liked it. 

    So when Shane did squirm away from him, Ilya followed automatically, pressing their chests flush together. He thought Shane was playing.

    “Get the fuck off me,” Shane spat.

    Shane's breath catches, and he muffles the sound with his hand. Everything feels like too much. He’s naked, and he can feel entirely too much on his body, inside his body, and he hates how it's starting to feel gross. His head is pounding, and he can't even focus on placating his mind when his lungs are also screaming in his throat for breath.

    Ilya hears, and his hands reach out to hold Shane, tension lying in every part of his body. “Shane—”

    “Don't touch me,” Shane snaps, more desperation than yelling as he rips his arm out of Ilyas's grasp. His tears have nowhere to go now, and they finally spill over, hot and humiliating, down his cheeks.

    Ilya freezes in place, hand hovering mid-air. A myriad of emotions flicker across his face: confusion, hurt, fear. Ilya takes an unconscious step back like someone shoved him. His body curls in on itself, trying to make himself appear smaller.

    He looks... terrified. Like, Shane just called him a monster, and he believes it.
