If newborn dragon hatchlings are abandoned for any particular reason (the mother could've been killed, certain species of dragons bury their eggs in the sand to fend for themselves once they hatch, etc), they will immediately adapt to the environment so that their chances of survival are guaranteed. This can mean burying themselves even further into the sand, becoming invisible, or even shapeshifting.

Summary
The curse didn't just cause a scar, the damage it caused to Harry Potter's brain would define much of his life. He's disabled, a wheelchair user, and deals with frequent seizures. But, having been taken in on the night of his parent's murder, by his father's best friends, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black he grew up a happy and empowered disabled child. In their early 20's, the two men had no idea how to be parents, certainly not how to do so with the dangers and anxieties of being gay parents, particularly when one of you is a werewolf, but with the threat of Harry being raised by his mother's muggle sister, the two men rise to the occasion, becoming loving and supportive parents to Harry.
This book will follow Harry from the night of his parent's murder, through his childhood, and into his Hogwarts years. I will explore both how Remus and Sirius would parent, and what his life would look like if the Killing Curse had caused further damage. I explore what living with various disabilities would look like in the Wizarding World, including the accessibility and ableism challenges of that world.

Delilah Evans is many things. Heir to noble houses, starving, abused, neglected, and more depressingly, living in a cupboard under the stairs in her Aunt and Uncle's home. While the snakes prove to be decent company when she's out in the garden doing her chores, she knows better than to openly talk to them anymore - especially after the last time she was caught doing something *freaky*. It was half the reason her cousin picked on her - the other half coming from her being a 'sissy boy'. At least he'd stopped this summer, after the snake incident - but the unspoken hurt still remains present in the forefront of the young girl's mind.
Now on the cusp of turning eleven years old, mysterious letters start appearing by the dozens, and Delilah's relative's already frightening behavior starts to take a terrifying turn...
Set in year one! Gonna be working on rewriting all of Joann Cowling Rowlings books as a writing exercise.
