Summary
After the events of Rolling in the Deep, Ed, Stede and Izzy try to find a balance in their relationship. Stede and Izzy still don't agree on everything, but as long as Edward is happy, that's all that matters.
And Edward is happy. He's got the men he loves, and Blackbeard's reputation to keep them all safe. Never mind the nightmares he's been having, of a monster lurking beneath the waves. Never mind the days when he feels like he can't take the pressure anymore. And never mind the voice in the back of his head, telling him that the people he loves might be better off without him.
Tie it all to the anchor. Let it sink into the dark.

Summary
At the mention of a trade, Izzy’s eyes narrow and his sneer of contempt turns into a cold, satisfied smile. He leans forward, fingers steepled in front of him, and tilts his head in Ed’s direction.
Stede’s babbling stops with a gasp, and he puts a protective arm around Ed’s waist.
“Sir, you’re not suggesting-“
“There’s only one thing you possess, sir, that’s of any interest to me.” Izzy’s eyes slide up and down Ed’s body in its shiny wrapping. “And I’m not proposing an even swap. More like…borrowing.”

“Yes,” Collins says quickly. Too quickly. Harry takes a seat on the sofa next to him.
“I’m not asking to be polite, you know. If the answer is something more complicated, I’d still very much like to hear it.”
Collins winces, looks down at his white-knuckled hands. “It’s snowing.”
Harry nods, thinking that might be all he gets by way of an answer. It is, after all, plenty.

Summary
There are other things it’s hard not to notice. The shift of Ed’s muscles beneath his bare skin. The way his brow furrows at the sting of the needle. At one point, Izzy needs to brace himself to put a mark to the left of Ed’s spine. He stares at Ed’s leather-clad lower half in a panic for a moment, before resting his hand on the back of Ed’s upper thigh. Izzy grits his teeth and vows to stay professional, to focus only on what his right hand is doing with the needle, but he knows that when he’s back in his bed tonight his left hand will be tingling with the memory of how warm and strong Ed feels through the fabric.
This isn’t a punishment. It’s torture.

“Eddie, you sound stressed,” she tuts, striding into the room and kicking the door closed behind her. Stede watches wordlessly as she climbs onto Ed’s lap, straddling him.
“What are you doing, Annie?” he asks softly, eyes closing when she starts to rub his shoulders.
“Oh come on, we used to have fun like this,” she argues.
His eyes open, glaring at her. “You weren’t very fun tonight.”
Stede has to agree, but even so he watches Ed’s hands travel up her thighs below the robe.
“I think I know what you need,” she tells him, dropping her lips to his neck. Stede holds his breath, shifting uncomfortably in his chair, not quite sure what’s happening.
“Erm…would you like some privacy?”
Anne’s head snaps up, twisting behind to look at him. “No. Care to join us?”

It’s “Fun and Games” but the house doesn’t burn down, Ed and Stede stay the night, and Anne has some ideas about how to help these two make up.

Summary
Ed and Izzy used to be a team once, taking Victorian London by storm, but Ed’s abilities as a medium aren’t what they used to be. He’s haunted by the tragedy that befell them, and his abilities have suffered for it. When Stede Bonnet, a researcher from the Psychical Society, comes to him with a proposition to study his energy, he wonders if this is a way to fix things.
Ed agrees to be studied, and travels to an isolated island estate for the research. He trusts Stede. He just wishes that Stede was the one in charge, and not Ned Low.
And Ed is keeping a secret. A secret about why he's so much weaker than he used to be.
