He zeroes in on it, his breath catching in his throat.
It’s a thin silver ring that sits nicely on his left ring finger, adorned with an even thinner golden band around it, perfectly matching, and mirroring the ring that Lance found on his bathroom counter this morning.

This has to be some kind of cruel joke.

' "Whats your name?"
Achilles glanced up at the speaker, and his heart gave a curious, inexplicable jump when he saw it was THAT boy. The kind eyed, curly-haired boy. He was taller, and slender, and had a physique that suggested much exercise. He was about 16 now, and had his hand out in a friendly gesture.
Achilles was shocked to feel his face grow warm. Embarrassment turned into irritation for an unknown reason, and he mumbled, "I'm no one. Just another one of Peleus's foster sons." Achilles pretended he didn't see the outstretched hand and the boy, still smiling, lowered it. Achilles wasn't sure why he decided not to tell this boy he was the Prince of Phthia.
"Well, you must have a name, unknown foster son," the older boy continued, teasingly.
Achilles eyes darted up to the other boy's, and green met brown. "What's YOUR name?" He snapped. It was not how he pictured he would ask this boy that question in all his imaginings of how this meeting would happen.
"My name is Patroclus." '
Achilles meets Patroclus when he is 11 and Patroclus is 16, and a beautiful friendship blossoms. As the years pass, their relationship develops into something more.

Summary
When Lance is thrown through time, his future self from one year ahead is transported to the past in his place.
This Lance is faster, stronger, and markedly more mature. Not only that, but he's distinctly more intuitive about his teammates and A LOT more touchy with Keith.
The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance's places and restore them to their original timelines. Things only get more complicated when the Future Lance can't seem to remember where he was when the switch happened, and he refuses to reveal anything about his own time for fear of influencing the team's decisions.

Toph fell safely to the hull below as Sokka twisted in time to see Suki sailing on the rudder directing the ship. He rolled off of the platform to join his friends with relief. But the landing went painfully wrong as his already tender knee jammed up, taking all of the shock from the fall. He toppled to the side to clutch it with a hiss through clenched teeth. The hull shuddered, the metal fractured beneath him from the force of impact against the enemy vessel.
The last thing he saw was the red tinted sky burning in shades of gold and amber. Plumes of smoke like the belching horrors he once witnessed from Mount Makapu rolling over it all and the pale terrified faces of his friends as he fell to the earth far below. The wind rushing in his ears silenced any sound that could have left their lips. Very soon they were little more than blips of color against a sky bathed in ash and malice.

It had taken Zuko all of two seconds to come up with his answer, a scowl on his face and fists clenched at his sides.
“One. Catowls aren’t native to the Fire Nation: only the Earth Kingdom.”
In the moment, Zuko was so sure and so strong-willed that it only made sense. But he was wrong.
The answer was three catowls. The first wouldn’t seem real. After all, he’d never seen it before, so it was probably a fluke. The second would be real, sure, but he’d assume that would be the first catowl, and would think that maybe it was migrating. The third catowl would finally tip him over the edge. Because catowls didn’t travel in threes.
There was only one eclipse. Somehow, he had lived three others in the last few days.
The question was, Why? What did the spirits want him to do?

Summary
Sokka is captured by the Fire Nation just as Ba Sing Se falls. Due to be executed on Fire Lord Ozai’s orders, Zuko steps in and claims Sokka as his war prize, taking him as his First Consort.
It’s not a match made in heaven, but more of a fight to the finish line. Sokka wants to be free and Zuko wants to take down Ozai. Neither of them know if the Avatar lives, but they need to work together if they want to succeed.
There’s just the small matter of both of them having to convince the Fire Nation court that they are lovers, rather than mortal enemies…

Only once in your life can you call upon the aid of your soulmate in a time of crisis where the spirits will teleport them to you until they deem the danger you're in has passed.
A helpful boon but one that can come at a great cost if utilized wrongly. Most parents will teach their children to use this call with extreme caution. To make sure it's a situation where your soulmate can actually help and not one where you have doomed them to extreme harm or to an early death.
Sokka knew all the tragic cautionary tales told to children to express this, he knew his soulmate wasn't some spirit, just another human like him. The last thing he wanted was to put their life at risk in a situation far beyond them, to sentence them to die by his side. But none of these known facts even registered in his panic when at the age of 10 the Fire Nation attacks his village and in desperation to save himself and his mother, he seeks out any help he can get, summoning his soulmate before the soldier's flames descend upon them.
Maybe he should count himself lucky that his soulmate was one who had the ability to stop the fire from consuming them all.

Sokka turns his head to where the slit in the tent has parted open from the wind, allowing him to see where a campfire is burning outside. He has nightmares of a mother he's never met leaving, of a weight of failure so deep in his chest he can't breathe, of pain ripping across his eye, burning its permanent mark into his skull.
Katara has nightmares of drowning underwater- encasing herself in ice for a lonely eternity.
They aren't real. They don’t come from soulmates. Sokka and Katara are just unlucky.
