Summary
Amateur detectives Stede and Ed accept a suspicious invitation from the Badmintons to stay at their newly acquired ranch in Arizona. But what promises to be a relaxing vacation of horseback riding and hiking turns out to be anything but. The night before they arrive, a strange glowing horse appeared at the ranch, followed immediately by one of their hosts being bitten by a rattlesnake and taken to the hospital. And more suspicious events keep happening, heralded by the appearance of the horse.
Could it be possible that this is infamous outlaw Dirk Valentine's horse, come back as some kind of harbinger of bad luck? Or is the horse merely a distraction, meant to clear people from the ranch so that someone can search for the treasure that Dirk Valentine is rumored to have hidden somewhere for his girlfriend, Frances Humber, whose father owned the ranch in the 1880s, and just so happened to be the sheriff?

Summary
What starts out as a freshy out of the closet Stede deciding to go to a gay bar during a business trip to Amsterdam, ends with some sweet connections and realizations with the bartender. It's not easy being ace in a bar full of people who seem to only have sex on their mind. Especially when you don't even know that you're ace. Thank god there is someone his age there - but they have more in common than just that.

Stede had learned so much about the different ways in which his body could give and receive pleasure these past few weeks. He had discovered a whole other side to himself, a secret bud that he hadn't even known he had been carrying, but that had been waiting for the sunlight in order to bloom. To say it was a revelation would be an understatement.
But sadly, they couldn't spend all of their time wrapped up in each other. There was a significant amount of work to be done to turn their dream of the inn into a reality…
The problem was, though, Stede was constantly finding himself distracted by the sight of Ed. And who could blame him? Ed was right there, doing very sexy things all the time, like sawing or hammering or — or chiseling! Honestly, how was a man supposed to work under such conditions?
