Summary
The Straw Hats find it a little weird that they don’t have a first mate. Whenever they ask, Luffy just laughs and says they do. Which is weirder, because none of the crew have ever met this so-called first mate.
A time-travel au, in which a captain and his first mate go back to the very beginning, and figures they can do more good apart than together. At least for now.

Summary
Zoro has two years to get stronger, to be better for his crew, and his company is Dracule Mihawk who will train him, which isn't at all awkward since one day in the future he's going to try to kill the man, and Perona, who previously had tried to kill him. Not at all awkard.
Even more awkward is Mihawk suggesting that Zoro needs to embrace all the aspects of himself if he wants to truly succeed as a swordsman. Which how is embracing his omega aspects going to help him hold a sword?
But he will get better for his crew. For Luffy, he won't be weak again. And in accepting himself, Zoro finds two friends, some great sex, and that the two years without the crew weren't the hell that he thought they would be.

“Kai,” Touya nods, as if committing the name to memory.
The smile wanes as he turns away from Kai and starts trudging back up the alleyway, leaving a trail of melted snow in his wake. Kai watches him go, lingering for a moment on the way he limps forward on those spindly legs of his before turning his face back up to the sky. The snow keeps falling and falling, until Kai’s fingers turn numb and the footprints left behind by the strange red-headed boy have been filled in. It’s almost as if he was never there at all.

He frowns and settles for a random station blaring out an unknown, upbeat song that Hari can’t quite translate with his poor grip of the English language. No bother, it’s not like the music is of real importance, it’s just a pleasantry to drown out the more unpleasant noises the evening will inevitably bring.
