(Bagginshield, Gimli/Legolas) In which recovery takes time, the dead members of the Company take to watching Gimli as though he’s a soap opera, the living struggle with being left behind, Legolas is confused, Khuzdul is abused, and Thorin is four feet and ten inches of guilt and anger.

Summary
This is a story about stories, and about what happens to the characters caught between the pages when their story ends. There are a lot of places it could start. It could start with four children tumbling into worlds that aren’t their own. It could start with those four children finding their way back home and learning to pick up the pieces. It could start with an old woman with a bit of Nonsense left in her step restoring a large house in the country and painting elegant letters onto a sign. Or, it could start with a frightened girl running away and ending up in the place where all stories start.
But for this telling, the story begins on a blustery April day, when Rose Lalonde dodged out of the way as three figures plummeted out of the sky and landed in a heap on the lawn of Jane Egbert’s Home for Wayward Children.

Lexaeus’ eyes narrow, but before he can claim insult, Zexion lifts one hand and seeks his eyes.
“It is not that I doubt your strength, but for all that he still fears the Darkness, we must not underestimate the potential within Riku. If we truly are to obtain him… we must assume that it will take more than brute force to overcome him.”
Lexaeus relaxes a fraction, apparently satisfied with Zexion’s reasoning.
“Then…” he asks, “what is it that you suggest?”

Or: When confronted with both Lexaeus and Zexion at the same time in Castle Oblivion, Riku gives in to the Darkness. The resulting events affect not just him…

Unwillingly drafted into Master Xehanort's new Organization XIII, Sora finds himself leashed to the darkness. Working in the shadows shouldn't come this naturally to a boy who fights for the light. And now, forced to track down the New Seven Hearts with his Organization XIII peers, Sora is unable to stop the war that threatens to lay waste to the universe.
Sora's only hope is realized when Riku and Kairi take his place as the light's champions—even if he must eventually meet them on the battlefield. But Sora's uncontrollable darkness threatens to consume even them. The people he loves cannot be safe until he escapes the Organization and controls the powerful darkness inside himself.
Except—he's not sure he wants to.

Summary
When teenagers reach puberty, their bodies undergo various changes. One such change is the addition of a soulmate mark, one's soulmate's name written across their chest, right above their heart. In Radiant Garden, it's one of the biggest events of a person's life.
When Braig receives his soulmate mark, he's horrified to find that it's complete nonsensical scribbles - a phenomenon he hadn't been prepared for and had never heard of. Confused and ashamed, Braig hides his soulmate mark, and joins the Royal Guard in an attempt to learn more about the blemish inked into his skin.
Unfortunately, things only escalate from there.

Rather, the vacuum has created a renaissance of darkness. Other powers afoot in the land are locked in competition for mastery over the Children of Iluvatar (Elves and Men), and a series of events on the Forest River, Long Lake, and Erebor slowly reveal that the Kingdom is falling under the shadow of a new threat.
