Welcome to Aftershocks, a Sonic the Hedgehog story written from the POV of Shadow! This story takes place after the end of Sonic PRIME; I recommend watching that before reading, however it is not necessary to understand the plot. I'm throwing in some Cyberpunk elements/themes too, just 'cause. I really enjoyed that game and the dystopian nature of it, and I felt it fit in well with the story I am trying to tell!
Think Cyberpunk 2077 but with Mobians instead of humans basically.
-Warning: there will be graphic depictions of blood, gore, violence, and injury. There will also be a handful of explicit adult scenes. The story is tagged as such, however just in case, here is one more warning! This story also features the ship Sonadow. There's other ships too, but Sonadow is the main focus.

They say time is a sensitive thing. I'm not too sure who "they" are, but they do have a point. A pebble can cause a ripple that sends everything off in a new direction. Sonic and his friends take fate into their own hands repeatedly, turning the odds to their favor. Others will argue that fate had always intended them to win, those odds were not as they seemed. Tampered with or not, fate had a plan. And if something got in the way, it wouldn't just let all that hard work go to waste.
What if Tails knew a little bit more about the Paradox Prism than he was letting on? That "Sonic, Wait!" Having more context.
Welcome to The Other Side of the Coin. When you think of perfect duos, Sonic and Tails certainly come to mind. The most pure definition of found family. A character who's a big ball of energy, with the more level-headed brother to think things through. Or, one anxious character to overthink everything with his brother there to help him loosen up. No matter how you put it, they compliment one another. But when they aren't together, maybe one would try to composite for the missing partner in crime a little too much. Unable to face reality, Nine remains in the Grim after the battle, ashamed and rejected. Living alone in the empty Grim, he thinks about his choices and everything that has occurred, convinced he will never be able to return back home.
But strange portals being to appear- they drop things from other Shatterspaces into the Grim, showing Nine glimpses of other realities and making him wonder what life could have been life if things were different. The objects start to overflow in the Grim, reminding Nine of everything he never had and what he's lost.
Worst of all, Shadow appears. He isn't keen on forgiving Nine for what he's done, and is convinced the portals are his doing.
With Shadow keeping watch, injuries that won't heal, and a Grim that is slowly overflowing, Nine must figure out a solution to the portals, and confront his fears. In the end he must decide- does he want to hide from reality, alone and rejected? Or is there redemption out there for him somewhere?
The answer lies in the shards.
